The section delivers a diverse range of functions covering legal, procurement and contract management, and non-procurement commercial arrangements.The key duties of the position include:Providing advice across the section's functions, including expert and pragmatic legal advice on all areas of law with an emphasis on commercial law.Identifying trends in legal issues and proactively reducing future legal risk.Working with a high level of autonomy under broad direction.Establishing and maintaining key strategic internal and external relationships.Providing leadership to implement and promote a culture of change and continuous improvement.Developing, coaching, and mentoring employees.Representing the organisation to facilitate or negotiate agreements.Overseeing the engagement and management of external legal advice.To be successful in the role you:Apply your experience and knowledge to develop strategies to prioritise and plan.Proactively manage risk and respond flexibly to changing demands.Communicate clearly and concisely.Work collaboratively across Corporate Division and the organisation.Set direction, lead the section and your own work priorities.Embrace the positive benefits of diverse views.Adhere to the APS Values and Code of Conduct.Required skills, knowledge, experience and/or qualificationsYou will need skills and experience in at least two of the following areas:General commercial law.Procurement.Probity.Public law.Information law.Policy or legislative development.To ApplyPlease visit the careers page of our website to submit your application via our e-Recruit system.
