Location ProfileLaa Yulta Primary School (located in Mambourin) is one of 14 new schools which opened at the start of the school year in 2024. It is located at 10 Elementary Road, Mambourin (located between Geelong and Melbourne). We are helping the growing local population in this new suburb to get a great education close to home. We are currently estimating an enrolment of 380 for the start of 2025 and the school is designed for up to 650 students.
The school has students in Prep to Year 6. The school includes: an administration building (incorporating a library and specialist classrooms); 3 learning neighbourhoods; a community hub with indoor multi-use court; canteen; arts/music spaces; hard courts; and a sports field. Students will have great modern learning areas with air conditioning and heating. Outside, we have shade sails for sun protection. The school is designed to be environmentally sustainable. CURRICULUM AND PEDAGOGY
Our pedagogy is based on the Science of Learning and takes into account research from developmental psychology, educational psychology, cognitive science, and cognitive neuroscience. It is centred on explicit instruction, which is characterised by carefully planned and sequenced lessons; clear and detailed instructions and modelling; and frequent and systematic monitoring of student progress and feedback to students. An example of this pedagogy is using the 'SoundsWrite' program to teach reading across our school. Classroom teachers will be supported to build their capacity through PLCs and provided training. Experience in these areas is not necessary – just a willingness to learn.

RoleAttendance requirement for this position is Monday to Friday 8:30am to 2:30pm. Attendance during school holiday periods will be negotiated if required.
An education support class position at this range will perform tasks that are carried out in accordance with guidelines, accepted practice, and school policy under supervision and direction. This may include coordination of other education support class staff within the work area or educational program.
An education support class position supports the educational services being provided to students but must not include duties of a teacher as defined in clause 2.6.1 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic) or its successor. Supervision of students can be required individually or in groups up to 4 in controlled circumstances and where the responsibility for students remains clearly with a teacher.
Certification and/or qualifications of up to three years can be required at this level (noting that Registered Nurse is not included at this level, the first level for which is Level 1 range 3).
A role at this range may include:
Specific support tasks to achieve outcomes.Assisting teachers, within an educational program, by undertaking specific support tasks or the coordination of the support function.Supervised health and wellbeing support tasks, medical intervention support tasks, or other specialised student/teacher support roles (e.g. enrolled nurses performing the role as described in schedule 3).Technical tasks that require a sound knowledge of basic technical and/or scientific principles.An education support class position at this range commencing at the base will initially be limited to undertaking routine tasks that are carried out under close supervision and direction.
ResponsibilitiesProvide routine clerical or other administrative support responsibilities including general telephone, front office enquiries, mail deliveries, assisting with stock control, supporting organisation of meetings, receiving and initial processing of standard paperwork.Maintain, enter and retrieve data from the school's IT systems, such as the school's records system, including computerised student, staff and school records.Maintain and update office records, enrolment data, diary records, and basic written records.Support or coordinate the preparation of standard routine internal and external communication according to school procedures.Source basic data or factual information from given sources to support school administrative functions.In consultation with the Principal and Business Manager, coordinate the delivery of administrative services within the school.Develop and implement strategies to ensure effective administration procedures.Coordinate the implementation of requisitioning, purchasing and issuing procedures.Manage client reception and office operations.Support the first aid facilities and assist in delivering first aid to students.Who May ApplyIndividuals with the aptitude, experience and/or qualifications to fulfill the specific requirements of the position.
