About our team
GM Technology & Major Cap Group | ICT Division | Architecture Design & Security | Technology Architecture Section
The Architecture, Design and Security Branch is located within the Technology and Major Capability Group (TMCG) and responsible for setting the strategic technology direction for the Department, enabling alignment between technology strategies and business needs. The Branch works closely with the business and other stakeholders to provide guidance and support to architecture design, delivery and sustainment decisions.
The Technology Architecture section in the Architecture, Design and Security branch delivers strategic technology leadership, and provides governance and design services to Home Affairs for Infrastructure technology deployment and use.
We are seeking a dynamic, passionate and determined technology architecture professional with a strong record for infrastructure design outcomes who has :
Proven ability to lead the development of complex architecture in the ICT infrastructure domain and drive innovation that achieves departmental strategic priorities
Capability to work under broad direction, with flexibility and agility to co-design and build infrastructure capabilities and integrated solutions
Understanding to use professional experience and domain knowledge to mentor and guide team members, model best practice and behaviour and continually demonstrate high performance and self-development
Understanding of Whole of Government policies and standards and demonstrated delivery of best practice architecture methodologies
Use professional experience and domain knowledge used to steer recommendations.
Duties and responsibilities
The EL1 Technology Architect will be responsible for following:
Under guidance from senior architect, lead architecture design for specified infrastructure domain (Storage, Compute, Network and Platforms) in collaboration with multi-disciplinary groups across business and ICT
Identify, design and develop infrastructure solutions, artefacts, roadmaps, patterns, standards and strategies for current and emerging technologies
Manage priorities, competing deadlines and under broad direction resolves standards, non-compliance and exception issues
Provide architecture advice and guidance to technical teams to ensure the designed infrastructure solutions are in line with business and technical requirements, and align with Well Architecture Framework, standards, patterns and compliances
Mentor and guide team members, model best practice and behaviour and continually demonstrate high performance and self-development.
Additional information
Experience/Role requirements/qualifications:
A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline or field is required
Demonstrated ability or experience in designing solution for a range of infrastructure platforms
Knowledge and experience in one or more technologies such as Microsoft 365, Collaboration platforms such as MS Teams, Contact Centre solutions such as Genesys or Amazon Connect. End user computing design in MoEs and Windows 11 is desirable
Proven knowledge of Australian Government security frameworks, strategies and standards
Knowledge of ICT Infrastructure and capability lifecycles
Highly developed writing and communication skills
Ability to work proactively and achieve outcomes for the team and the Branch.
