Kestrel is one of the world's largest producing underground coking, or metallurgical coal mines and produces around 7 million tonnes of metallurgical coal annually. Our coal is shipped to key markets in Asia and Europe to be used in the steel making process. The mine is located in the Bowen Basin, approximately 40km Northeast of Emerald in Central QLD. Our team's capability covers the entire mining process, from development to extraction and processing, environmental management and sustainable rehabilitation. We have an approved life of mine until 2033 and reserves to 2046 with the potential to increase further.

About the opportunity We are committed to continuous improvement and as a result we are seeking interest for a newly created role as Gas Drainage Coordinator based at Kestrel Mine located just outside of Emerald in Central Queensland. In this role, you will be working a Monday to Friday or 9-day Fortnight roster and will be reporting to the Gas Drainage Superintendent. You will be responsible for overseeing Underground to Inseam (UIS), Surface to Inseam (SIS) and Goaf Drainage activities. In this role, you will support Kestrel by: Oversee gas drainage systems, ensuring effective operation of UIS, SIS, and goaf drainage activities. Regularly monitor gas levels and drainage performance to ensure compliance with safety regulations and gas emission reporting. Coordinate with underground and surface teams to synchronise drainage activities and achieve planned drainage activities while minimising operational delays. Coordinate gas drainage infrastructure relocations and installs for both surface and underground activities. Conduct risk management and safety audits related to gas drainage, in accordance with the Safety Health Management System. About you: Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Geology, or proven qualifications in a related field is favourable. Minimum of 3 years' experience in Gas Drainage Operations or related roles in the mining industry. Strong understanding of various gas drainage techniques, including UIS, SIS and Goaf Drainage. Demonstrated ability to tackle operational challenges with excellent problem-solving and decision-making capabilities. Effective communication and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to engage with a diverse range of stakeholders. S1, S2, S3 & G2 Supervisor or ability to obtain them. Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook). Skilled in data analysis and monitoring gas drainage activities. At Kestrel, we are ONE.
