GARMENT TECHNICIAN
Full-Time, Port Melbourne
Calling all perfectionists with a tape measure obsession! Goldie + Ace is on the hunt for a Garment Technician who measures twice and dreams in seams. Could this be you?
We need someone who can spot a wonky stitch from a mile away and knows what it takes to design for durability and all-out adorability. If you're ready to own the tape measure and work directly with our Head of Product & Design, let's make some magic in the form of teeny-tiny overalls and buttery-soft bodysuits.
Our HQ is based in Port Melbourne, and we're offering full-time hours—with a bit of flexibility for the right person.
About Us Goldie + Ace is a Melbourne-based kidswear label making nostalgic, high-quality clothes for babies and toddlers. Inspired by those golden days (the '80s and '90s, obviously!), our designs are made to be worn, washed, cherished, and handed down for future mischief-makers. Our mantra? Outgrow, don't wear out.
So, what's the gig? You'll be overseeing the nitty-gritty details of garment design, ensuring that everything we create is true to Goldie + Ace's quality, comfort, and cuteness standards. Here's a glimpse of what you'll get up to:
Develop prototypes and samples that align with our style and quality vision. Create comprehensive Tech Packs for each style: fit, construction, stitching, and trims, from sketch to finished sample. Craft garment spec sheets, apply grading rules, and dive into fit sessions to catch and solve any hiccups. Measure garments (to the millimeter!) and make sure they fit like a dream. You'll also be in touch with suppliers, giving them constructive feedback on quality, fits, and finishes. Join fit sessions and take ownership of fit comments—addressing any issues quickly and thoroughly. Conduct in-house Quality Checks for samples and production runs to make sure they meet all AU standards and pass Goldie + Ace's top-notch quality checklist. Skills & Experience Required At least 2 years in Product Development / Garment Technology within childrenswear. Formal training in Design, Pattern Making, and Grading. Strong technical garment knowledge (fabric, fit, size, and grading wizardry essential). Expert-level skills in Adobe Illustrator and Excel (with a sprinkle of graphic magic). Calm and collected under pressure with a "let's-get-this-done" attitude—because, hey, things do go sideways sometimes! The kind of person who meets deadlines, stays focused, and brings solutions to the table. Fabulous communicator and true team player who loves collaboration. A relentless eye for detail, from the tiniest button placement to the overall design harmony. Flexibility, adaptability, proactivity, and a "let's do this!" attitude. What's in it for you? A beautiful office near the city with a team that believes in celebrating the wins (and the great coffee nearby). Generous staff discount to stock up on nostalgic threads. Local gym membership (for those fabric-lifting arms). A calendar packed with team learning events, well-being days, and celebrations. Ready to apply? Before you dash off that application, spend a moment exploring our website, get cozy with our story, and picture yourself in the Goldie + Ace family. If it feels right, email us at careers @goldieandace .com with your resume, a short cover letter, and answers to these questions:
Why Goldie + Ace? What excites you, and what would you bring to and get from this role? What motivates you? Ready to sew the seeds for a fabulous career with us? We can't wait to meet you!
