Gardener - Mornington Racecourse

Gardener – Mornington RacecourseReporting to the Racecourse Manager, this permanent full-time position will include maintaining the course proper, training tracks and grounds at Mornington Racecourse ensuring they are presented in the best possible condition.
Ideally, you will have a proven background in a hands-on role from within the grounds maintenance, racecourse, turf management, or other relevant industries. You will bring your experience and passion for gardening to a range of duties aimed at maintaining and enhancing the natural beauty of the grounds.
What will your responsibilities be? Undertake general turf maintenance work including mowing, track repairs, rail moves, operation of a large range of machinery, pre and post-race day tasks, and any other reasonable horticultural and facility maintenance related tasks.Operate plant equipment such as tractors, ride on mowers, front end loader, forklift, power sweepers, power harrows, brush cutters, hedgers, push mowers and general chemical spraying operations.Assist with garden maintenance tasks: hedging, weeding, pruning, and mulching.Skills & Experience Demonstrated experience in a similar role, preferably in turf management.Previous experience in landscaping, gardening, or a related field is an advantage.General operational and mechanical maintenance skills.Appropriate licences to operate specialist machinery such as a manual vehicle, front end loader and forklifts (as applicable).Sound knowledge and practical experience of handling and spraying chemicals.A demonstrable ability to work independently and as part of a team.Sound verbal and interpersonal communication skills.Physical fitness, reliability, punctuality and strong work ethic.Experience working outdoors.What's in it for you?
