About the Opportunities: John Paul College currently has multiple opportunities for Garden, Grounds and Maintenance team members to join our Property Services department in permanent full time, permanent part time and casual roles The Garden, Grounds and Maintenance roles at John Paul College are responsible for the day-to-day facilities maintenance of the College's gardens, grounds and facilities.
These roles play an intricate part in maintaining our beautiful campus and in supporting the ongoing College operations.
Ideally, candidates will bring a flexible approach to tasks and responsibilities, understanding that no two days in a school setting are ever the same!
Regular duties will include: Maintenance of the College gardens and grounds including mowing, weeding, fertilizing garden bed maintenance and day-time cleaning and rubbish removal.
Maintaining planted and garden areas within the College environment including hedging, pruning, removal and disposal of unwanted growth.
Supporting in landscaping projects as required.
Opening and securing of gates and premises across campus Event support Support students, staff, visitors, and contractors as required during events including respond to general enquiries.
Operation of equipment, including checking and maintaining equipment prior to and after use, reporting any known concerns Regular inspection, cleaning and repair of gardening tools, grounds equipment, and machinery.
Check for structural issues, fix minor leaks, and maintain clean, accessible building entrances.
Be available to address urgent repairs or issues that arise on the grounds or within garden areas.
Ensuring compliance with Health and Safety requirements, including safe work practices and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
Garden, Grounds & Maintenance Officers at John Paul College will work within a collaborative team and will have the following essential requirements for the role: Certificate III in Horticulture or similar and/or a Trade qualification.
Experience in a school environment (preferred but not essential) Positive Paid Blue Card / Working with Children Check (or ability to obtain this by your start date) Drivers License (Open License) Current First Aid and CPR (or ability to obtain).
A friendly and approachable demeanor will be crucial in this position, as will good communication skills.
