The Employment and Training Program Project Officer will be responsible for delivering comprehensive career support and client management services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people, ensuring a successful transition to meaningful employment.
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experience:
Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, demonstrating cultural awareness, sensitivity, and the ability to support youth in overcoming barriers to employment and training.
Proven experience in managing client registrations, conducting assessments, and maintaining accurate records.
Ability to provide tailored career support, including creating individualised plans, organising work experience, and fostering relationships with clients and their families to ensure positive outcomes.
Highly developed interpersonal skills to engage effectively with clients, families, local secondary schools, employers, and community organisations.
Demonstrated ability to clearly explain services, obligations, and career pathways to clients.
Strong administrative skills with the ability to manage client files, maintain up-to-date records, revise resumes, and ensure clients are prepared for employment, including managing documentation and liaising with Employment Consultants and employers.
Ability to manage competing priorities, demonstrate flexibility, and collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders, contributing to Ganbina's purpose and overall success.
Undertake other reasonable duties as directed by the General Manager such as organising the award night or assisting with the leadership program.
Qualifications
A degree or qualification in fields such as:
Education Aboriginal Studies Social Work Community Development or similar.
Experience in Case Management: Practical experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth and communities, particularly in case management or career development.

Vocational/Employment Services Training (Desirable): Additional certifications or training in vocational assessments, career counselling, or employment services would be beneficial.

Cultural Competency: A demonstrated understanding of and sensitivity to the cultural needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

First Aid Certification: A valid first aid certificate (or willingness to obtain).

Clearances: A valid Working with Children Check and Police Check, as required for working with vulnerable groups.
