The Game Management Authority (GMA) is an independent statutory authority responsible for the regulation of game hunting in Victoria.
It delivers programs to improve and promote sustainable and responsible hunting in Victoria.
The GMA is responsible for:
issuing Game Licences and related testing; managing open and closed seasons for game species; enforcing game hunting laws and taking action against those who do not hunt legally; educating and informing hunters on how to hunt legally and responsibly in Victoria. The Role The Game Manager works in a small team developing innovative responses to a range of game management issues and producing education and extension material on game management and responsible game hunting in Victoria.
The responsibilities of the Game Manager will include:
Contribute to the coordination and lead implementation of programs, projects and processes that educate hunters and industry and promote sustainability and responsibility in hunting. Maintain good working relationships with community stakeholders and partner agencies, including Victoria Police, Parks Victoria, Victorian Fisheries Authority, Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA) and Traditional Owner Corporations. Provide advice and educational services, making presentations at stakeholder meetings/gatherings, and attending relevant shows and exhibitions. The Team The position of Game Manager forms a part of the Compliance and Intelligence division within the Game Management Authority (GMA).
The Compliance and Intelligence Division is responsible for improving compliance with hunting laws and regulations.
About You The successful candidate will ideally have the following skills and experience:
Mandatory requirements include a current Victorian Diver's Licence. Highly developed interpersonal skills and sound judgement.
The ability to assess the situation and make appropriate and informed decisions, particularly in potentially volatile situations. Highly developed ability to build and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders or groups.
