Full-time, Temporary, Director, Business DevelopmentSouthport is seeking a Director, Business Development. This position is a full-time temporary position, anticipated to start May 27, 2024, and end August 1, 2025 (approximately 14 months). Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Director, Business Development's is responsible for identifying strategic business opportunities, building key customer relationships, driving growth in revenue and profitability, meeting annual commercial business plan targets, and developing long-term business growth strategies. This role requires a dynamic individual with strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of market trends, and the ability to develop and execute comprehensive business development strategies. The Director, Business Development will collaborate closely with the executive team to align business objectives and drive sustainable growth. Key duties and responsibilities of this position are to:
Develop and implement strategic business development plans to achieve Southport Aerospace's objectives and revenue targets.Identify and evaluate new business opportunities through market research, industry analysis, and customer insights and develop Southport Aerospace's unique selling propositions and differentiators.Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including customers, partners, industry influencers, community members, key decision makers, and Southport Management.Lead negotiations for contracts, partnerships, and other business agreements to drive revenue growth and expansion and work through differences to a positive conclusion.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and execute strategies for new products, services, and enhance existing relationships.Monitor key market trends and competitive activity to identify areas of opportunity and potential threats.Lead the development of Marketing, Communication and Business Development Plans as part of the Annual Business Plan.Analyze revenue and performance data to measure progress against goals and optimize business development strategies.Represent Southport at industry functions, such as association events, conferences, and networking opportunities to promote brand awareness and provide feedback and information on market and creative trends.Lead and manage the Marketing team overseeing the implementation of all advertising plans, communication channels, and public relations.Position requirements: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or related field.Proven track record of success in business development, sales, marketing, or related field with a minimum of 5 years experience.Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire cross-functional teams.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and negotiate effectively.Strategic thinker with a proactive and results-orientated approach to problem-solving.Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt quickly to changing priorities.Deep understanding of market dynamics, industry trends, and competitive landscapes.Proficiency in Microsoft Office and SharePoint.Sound understanding of social media trends and website development.Willingness to travel, as needed.Desire for growth and learning.Valid Class 5 driver's license.Given the cultural diversity of our region, the ability to respect and promote a culturally diverse population is required.Prior to the commencement of employment, the successful applicant will be required to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination by providing a Government of Manitoba issued QR code and photo identification or providing proof of an exemption from the COVID-19 vaccination approved by the Government of Manitoba.
