THE ROLE
The Freedom of Information Officer works flexibly across all streams of FOI work. They act as an authorised officer under the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (Vic), respond to subpoenas, court warrants and other requests for child protection information. They determine the validity of applications, assess information for release, apply exemptions where required and make decisions on the release of information.
ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE
Retrieve, analyse and process information in response to requests for records, assessing the information against relevant legislation and ensuring timeliness, quality and completeness in responses.Liaise with applicants and department staff regarding information requests.Explain concepts and policies, procedures and guidelines relevant to freedom of information and subpoena processing. The department strongly recommends (but does not mandate) that employees maintain their COVID-19 vaccination status in accordance with current ATAGI (Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation) advice , given their individual circumstances. As of June 2023, DFFH does not require evidence of COVID-19 vaccination status.
