We need experienced FPGA (Field-Programmable Gate Array) designers who can design and develop highly optimized FPGA systems for satellite communications equipment. You will be working on some next-level systems with top Australian engineers.
You will be a senior VHDL designer with a strong ability to understand and implement new and complex algorithms, and do it efficiently in hardware. Every LUT is precious, every clock cycle counts, and the communications channel is challenging. We are looking for about 5 years of hands on experience of hardware design, and the ability to write space and power-constrained systems.
You will be working with other engineers to adapt your designs for use in satellite communications systems, and therefore the ability to write and communicate effectively will be a key aspect of the role.
Projects may include baseband signal processing, antenna beamforming and high speed serial interfacing. Your past experience could be from any intensive signal processing domain such as video coding, HP Computing, wireless comms, cryptography, ML/AI, SOCs for FPGAs or ASIC design.
Role Purpose As an FPGA Engineer, your primary responsibility will be :
Designing and implementing digital circuits on FPGAs using relevant hardware description languages. Working closely with hardware and software engineers to develop FPGA-based solutions for spacecraft systems.Must have Australian Permanent Residence or Australian citizenship.Access to technology controlled under USA ITAR is required so your nationality history may limit eligibility.Based in the Canberra office and is unsuitable for remote workers.Knowledge, Skills, Experience Required Experience with software-defined radio (SDR) platforms and digital signal processing (DSP) techniques advantageous.A strong background in digital circuit design and experience working with FPGAs and HDLs.Excellent problem-solving and analytical skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a teamEffective communication skills to collaborate with other engineers and presenting your workTertiary level qualification in Electrical Engineering or Computer ScienceProven ability to design and test in either VHDL or VerilogExperience with design for high end FPGAs.Experience with AMD/Xilinx Kria K26 SOM Zynq UltraScale+MPSoC highly regarded.MCS Consulting has been a trusted Recruitment advocate for over 25 years to many companies in high value Manufacturing, Finance, R&D, IT&T and Government.
