Our service offers specialist drug and alcohol doctors, nurses and allied health staff who respect the client's right to choose from a range of treatments offered with our services underpinned by a philosophy of harm reduction.An exciting opportunity is available for a Health Clinician to join the Merit & Drug Court Programs in Lithgow. In this role, you will provide evidence-based drug and alcohol assessment, case management and counselling services to patients accessing the MERIT and Drug Court programs via the Nepean Blue Mountains LHD Drug and Alcohol Service.The clinician will undertake comprehensive assessment and treatment planning for clients referred to the MERIT and Adult Drug Court Programs. This includes providing evidence-based counselling interventions and case management to clients of the Adult Drug Court and MERIT programs. What you will bring to the role: Tertiary qualifications, professional registration/membership and significant clinical experience as follows: i) Occupational Therapy – minimum Bachelor Degree and general registration with AHPRA; with clinical experience in a Drug and Alcohol treatment setting or ii) Counselling and Social Work – minimum Bachelor Degree and eligibility for membership of AASW; with clinical experience in a Drug and Alcohol treatment setting or iii) Generalist Psychologist – a four year degree in psychology, being a three year degree with a fourth year honours in psychology; or who has qualifications deemed equivalent by the employer, and has full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia with clinical experience in a Drug and Alcohol treatment setting. Or iv) Registered Nurse - Current registration to practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA); with clinical experience in a Drug and Alcohol treatment setting. Demonstrated clinical experience in the provision of evidence based interventions for alcohol and other drug using clients. Demonstrated ability to liaise with a range of internal and external stakeholders, with a particular focus on Local Health District services, Criminal Justice System, and community-based support services Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team in providing drug and alcohol services to court mandated clients Proven high quality computer literacy, written and verbal communication including the preparation of court reports and clinical notes Experience in, or commitment to, working with individuals and families from Indigenous backgrounds and/or diverse cultural backgrounds. Ability to work with minimal supervision Current Driver's Licence and willingness to use for work purpose travel Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified and must not exceed the duration or conditions associated with the current visa.
