About the PositionAs a Food Technology Assistant, you will be responsible for shopping for food, whilst being cost-effective. You'll set up ingredients on trays for practical cooking lessons before class starts and assist in maintaining pantry stock levels, minimising out-of-date items. Rotating stock in fridges and freezers, monitoring use-by dates and food quality, will also be part of your duties. Ensuring food items are prepared and stored hygienically and safely is crucial, as is cleaning food preparation areas and equipment. Additionally, you'll assist the Food Technology teacher and students during practical lessons.
This role is a flexible part-time role, across 3 days a week. We are looking for someone with strong organisational skills and attention to detail, who can manage time effectively and work independently. Basic knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices is essential, along with enthusiasm for food and education. Previous experience in a similar role is an advantage.
