About our role Permanent part time role, 22.5 hours pw Inspire, identify, develop and commercialise innovative food ideas Based at our head office in Mentone / Moorabbin We now have a fantastic opportunity for a Food Technologist to join our dynamic Innovation and Development team, based at our Head Office in Mentone / Moorabbin.

Reporting into the Product Development Manager, this role will be responsible for driving and delivering all technical aspects of Innovation for our food categories to achieve profitable growth for Simplot Australia.

A key focus of the role is to work cross-functionally with teams focused on inspiring, identifying, developing and commercialising innovative ideas to achieve our growth targets.

What you will do Work collaboratively with key partners to inspire and identify innovative growth opportunities Open to collaborate with our key external suppliers.
Understand the requirements of internal stakeholders in their support of customer and consumer needs and align priorities and actions to deliver those customer needs.
Be proactive in the timely progression of projects through our stage and gate process through sound project management principles.
Support the development and technical aspects of all assigned NPI projects.
Communicate and escalate project progress/issues to sponsors & other stakeholders e.g., product and process risks, project milestones and/or roadblocks.
Communicate the Stage Gate Product Innovation system and project methodology used at Simplot to our external customers and suppliers, to ensure effective delivery of project objectives.
Complete accurate and timely information related to back-end project execution.
Provide innovative technical solutions to innovation partners, e.g., Factories, outsource suppliers, QA, Marketing, and Procurement.
About you Tertiary qualified Food Technologist/Scientist Understanding of project management methodologies, with the ability to bring products to market.
Able to use your growth mindset to inspire and contribute innovative ideas and solutions.
Able to take ownership for contributing sound technical support to dedicated project teams, with particular focus on the delivery of ideas from concept stage to commercialisation.
Ensure our ongoing business and product development goals are realised and will have the ability to work well autonomously and within a team environment.
A sound understanding of the application of food regulations, food legislation and possess good analytical, problem solving, organisational and communication skills.
