About the roleThe Food Studies Officer provides a practical support service to the Food Studies Program and is responsible for the provision and measuring of workshop consumables, coordination and maintenance of kitchen areas, provision, and measurement of consumables to the food classrooms and assistance to lecturers and students in the Food Studies program areas before, during and post class times. This includes adherence to regulatory requirements including liaison with internal and external stakeholders, food preparation and measuring.
To be successful you will need:
Ability to organise workload efficiently, effectively and in a timely manner
Experience in food distribution, correct measuring, and initial preparation of raw materials to be used in cookery classes
Sound Knowledge of food and the Food and Hospitality Industry
Ability to communicate in a clear, concise manner both orally and in writing
Sound Knowledge of Food safety

Special ConditionsThe successful applicant is required to demonstrate having a valid Working With Children Check (WWCC) prior to being employed. Applicants who do not hold a WWCC will need to apply at Department of Human Services (DHS).
• Out of hours work will be required.
• Some intra/interstate travel and overnight absences may be required.
• Incumbent will be required to participate in the department's Performance Development Program.
• Eligibility to work in Australia.
