Purchasing, Procurement & Inventory (Manufacturing, Transport & Logistics) Full time SecondBite is one of Australia's largest food rescue organizations, focused on reducing food waste by rescuing and distributing nutritious food to those in need.
Recently merged with FareShare, they operate non-profit kitchens in Melbourne and Brisbane, preparing meals from rescued food.
The organization emphasizes community partnerships and is committed to diversity in the workplace.
The Food Sourcing Specialist is key in enhancing the volume of donated food from farms and food processors, aiming to boost the supply of proteins, carbohydrates, fruits, and vegetables for SecondBite and FareShare.
This role also involves maintaining an accurate customer relationship database and fostering supplier relationships.
Key ResponsibilitiesPromote a safety-first culture.Regularly discuss risk management with the Head of Planning and Procurement (HOPP).Ensure compliance with safety legislation and organizational policies.Establish and maintain supplier relationships.Develop a supply pipeline to meet volume and category targets.Collaborate with operations to integrate sourced food into the supply chain.Contribute to a positive work culture.Provide timely reporting and share knowledge with the line manager.Perform additional tasks as needed.Qualifications, Skills, and Experience5+ years in the food industry, ideally in procurement or supplier management.Knowledge of Australian produce farming highly desirable.Relevant degree or experience in agriculture/supply chain.Strong relationship-building skills and experience in IBP planning.Trustworthy, accountable, and a natural leader.Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.Independent, goal-oriented, and proficient in problem-solving.Additional InformationLocation: QLD or VIC, with possible interstate travel.Work Environment: Hybrid model, with laptop and mobile phone provided.Employment Type: Equal opportunity employer.Ready to Make a Difference?
