ABOUT THE POSITION: We currently have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Procurement Specialist to lead and take ownership of Procurement activities for Battery Energy Storage Solution Projects in Australia. The Project Procurement Specialist will lead the sourcing/procurement activities during the Tendering phase through to Project delivery and services.
This role requires an autonomous and pragmatic individual who has experience working in a matrixed environment, working with multiple stakeholders, working on multiple projects/tasks.
This role will have a functional reporting line to Head of Procurement – Australia and Logistics – APAC, and on a Tender/Project basis to the assigned Fluence Bid Manager/Project Manager. Key responsibilities include:
Develop and implement sourcing/procurement strategies to support Tenders and delivery of projects. Develop new suppliers/contractors for improved price, delivery and quality. Interface with internal teams and external specialists to arrange technical specifications, scope of works and performance requirements into a suite of procurement agreements. Support the Sales/Tendering Deal team and effectively manage obtaining proposals from suppliers/Subcontractors to meet the tender timeframes and key tender deadlines. Prepare and maintain the Procurement plan and equipment delivery schedule. Actively lead and negotiate procurement agreements/contracts to procure products and services for the Balance of Plant including engineering consultants, Design and Construct contractors, transmission line works, commissioning, Switchroom, HV & MV Transformers, civil works, Logistics, LTSA Maintenance works, etc. Support the development and execution of contracts including to ensure adherence to key project timeframes through the effective management of contract terms negotiations aligned to the Fluence obligations with the Customers. Ensure robust record keeping and information lifecycle management throughout the procurement planning, tender and contract execution lifecycles. Manage vendor selection and appointment in consultation with the relevant stakeholders. Issue purchase orders and ensure that the equipment deliveries/services meet the Project requirement. Coordinate with Fluence Global Supply chain and offshore suppliers to ensure the equipment deliveries (including specific shipping requirements) are met. Coordinate with Construction and Operational Services teams for local logistics concerning storage and movement of inventory, tools and equipment between warehousing and site locations. Prepare and maintain up-to-date Procurement plan and Shipping schedules for Project Management and Project Reporting requirements. Support the project team in resolving quality/delivery issues and ensuing claims with the supplier/contractors. What will our ideal candidate bring to Fluence? Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise. Ability to interact in a multicultural environment and to work under pressure. Natural curiosity and problem-solving skills with the ability to pivot procurement strategies to adapt to changes in market conditions, engineering or supplier issues. At least 5 years' of procurement experience in the Power Generation, renewable energy, utility, infrastructure, or oil and gas industry. Ability to design, compile and monitor supply chain risk framework. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Ability to work unsupervised and demonstrate behaviors that promote employee safety and accountability. Ability to manage time efficiently and work to deadlines. Attentive to details in performing all aspects of the role. Aligns with organization's vision and values. Demonstrable ability working in a high-performance team within a matrixed and global organization. Ability for occasional travel internationally and domestically. Desirable Experience/Qualifications Strong command of English. Tertiary and post graduate education in engineering (preferred), Supply chain.
