We are seeking an experienced Flight Instructor to join our team and deliver high-quality theoretical and practical ab-initio flight training to student pilots. We are MAF, a Christian organisation that utilises aviation and technology to provide assistance and hope to underdeveloped communities around the world. Founded in 1945, MAF currently serves in 31 countries. MAF's history reflects a strong commitment to serving some of the most remote and hard-to-reach communities in the world. MAF's 116 aircraft provide vital transportation services to medical personnel, development workers, and aid organisations across the globe. The organization also delivers Bibles, church materials, and other resources to communities with limited access to Christian teaching and worship services. Our flight training centre in Mareeba focuses on preparing trainee pilots for flying in some of the most extreme conditions and locations found in mission aviation. We are looking for a passionate and experienced Flight Instructor to deliver high-quality theoretical and practical ab-initio flight training to student pilots. This role involves developing and implementing comprehensive training programs, ensuring adherence to approved syllabi, and utilising standard techniques and operating procedures. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in aviation training, a commitment to safety and excellence, and the ability to inspire and mentor aspiring pilots. You will be responsible for monitoring student progress, providing constructive feedback, and fostering a professional and supportive learning environment. Responsibilities Flight Training: Provide high-quality theoretical and practical flight training to ab-initio trainees, ensuring adherence to the approved syllabus, standard techniques, and operating procedures. Student Progress Monitoring: Track and record details of student lessons, ensuring that student pilots are clear on course objectives and timelines. Competency Development: Incorporate key knowledge, technical skills, non-technical skills, and attitude (KSSA) competencies to help student pilots develop critical thinking and threat and error management skills. Professionalism: Foster a professional attitude in student pilots to cultivate essential behaviors and attitudes. Safety and Learning Culture: Promote a strong safety and learning culture by reporting all safety occurrences promptly and encouraging trainees to use the Safety Management System. Supportive Learning Environment: Participate in creating a supportive learning environment through trainee-centered techniques, engagement with visiting groups, and assistance with administrative tasks. Qualifications, Skills & Experience Preferred Instructors: Grade 1-2 Flight Instructors are preferred, however, Grade 3 Instructors will be considered under exceptional circumstances. ICAO CPL with instrument rating (current). Holding an Instrument Rating and Flight Instructor Rating. Excellent team communication and written skills. Ability to communicate across cultural boundaries. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office. Mission or cross-cultural experience. Experience on MAFTC fleet. Experience working with other cultures.
