Fletcher Building Limited | Manufacturing Shift Coordinator

Details of the offer

About Laminex Australia: We've been a part of the iconic Australian design landscape for over 90 years. Only a few short years after Australians fell in love with Vegemite, families were spreading their toast in kitchens and on tables made by us. We've come a long way.
Today, you'll see Laminex on surfaces everywhere you look - be it hospitals, shopping centres, restaurants, or your home. We manufacture and procure a broad range of products for commercial and residential use such as laminate, engineered stone, and veneers so that all Australians can live in beautiful, practical spaces.
Where your story begins: We are seeking a seasoned Shift Coordinator to enhance operational effectiveness at our Ballarat Trewin St, Victoria site. In this existing role, you will lead a team of Production Operators and, along with our team of Shift Coordinators, champion the Laminex Operational Excellence journey over a transformative 5-year period. Reporting to the Operations Support Lead, the successful candidate will embody resilience, thriving amidst complex team dynamics and challenging scenarios. This frontline leader role is for an individual with future leadership aspirations and who can influence our culture to achieve our Production Team purpose – "Working as a unified team to produce quality product, safely and efficiently."
As a Shift Coordinator, you will be the key interface between management and waged employees, ensuring commitment to and enforcement of site safety policies and procedures. You will coordinate emergency situations, promote safety through regular Toolbox Talks, and lead risk identification and elimination efforts. Additionally, you will complete incident investigations, accompany injured employees to medical assistance, issue permits, lead risk assessments and root cause analysis investigations, and coordinate staffing and support services during both planned operations and unexpected disruptions. You will also liaise with shift maintenance representatives, prioritize maintenance work and/or breakdowns, provide input to the decision-making process, ensure all production recording is entered into Lighthouse on time and with 100% accuracy, monitor materials inventory levels during back shifts and replenish as required, seek opportunities to improve productivity and cost reduction, organize coverage for any unplanned leave while balancing the plan versus the cost of overtime, ensure all team members are multi-skilled against the site's skills matrix and ensure regular rotation to maintain skills, review SOPs and recommend changes for review and approval, and ensure key messages and information are cascaded to all team members.
This is a permanent, full-time waged position, offering a highly competitive hourly rate.
About You: Frontline leadership experience, preferably in a production/maintenance environment. High literacy and communication skills, both verbal and written. Lead by example, setting expectations for safe operations while prioritizing quality and achievement of daily KPIs. Enjoy coaching people to make better decisions and prioritize collaboration with stakeholders before making final decisions. Understand the importance of effective communication at all levels and pride yourself on fact-based interactions. Have a problem-solving mindset and support your team to resolve issues within their "circle of control." Understand the importance of multi-skilled, unified teams and work with each individual to ensure their learning journey has the right support. If successful, you will work on the following rotating roster: Week 1: Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday night 7pm to 7am. Week 2: Friday, Saturday, Sunday days 7am to 7pm. Week 3: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday nights 7pm to 7am. Week 4: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday days 7am to 7pm. If you're a resilient and adaptable professional, ready to play a critical role in our operations, we're eager to meet you. Apply today, and become a part of our story of Australian manufacturing excellence. Laminex is committed to responding to every application as part of our Circle Back Initiative.
