Your Opportunity: We are now looking for a full-time Fleet Coordinator based in Tenterfield, NSW. This is a role well suited to someone who enjoys the balance of working in the office as well as being on the tools.
In this newly created role, you will manage a team of four and report to the Manager of Assets & Program Planning and be responsible for overseeing the acquisition, maintenance, and effective utilisation of Council's fleet and equipment. In this role, you will coordinate the fleet of light and heavy vehicles and equipment through effective planning, acquisition, maintenance, and disposal. You will manage the delivery of the Plant Maintenance Program and Fleet Asset Management Plan while providing hands-on mechanical support, diagnosing and rectifying vehicle and equipment faults. Ensuring the fleet meets all regulatory and safety standards is a key responsibility, as is overseeing vehicle recalls, warranty repairs, and arranging temporary replacements. You will supervise and develop the Fleet team, conducting performance reviews and guiding them towards success. This role also involves preparing documentation and overseeing tender processes for fleet procurement, developing fleet replacement programs, and implementing maintenance strategies for optimal cost returns. Additionally, you will analyse fleet performance data, provide forecasts and financial reports, and collaborate with other Council sections on fleet use and compliance matters. A focus on monitoring and improving fleet operations, along with financial performance through continuous improvement, is crucial, while ensuring high-quality, safe work practices across all fleet-related tasks.
You'll be great in this role because: To qualify, you will need qualifications in a mechanical trade, along with ideally 3-4 years experience in a similar role. Prior experience in fleet management or a related industry is also considered essential. Previous local government experience will be well regarded though is not considered essential.
