This role is located in Tatura, Victoria. Reporting to the Head Grower, the IPM Manager will be responsible for the development and implementation of applicable programs to manage pest and disease using various controls in order to maximise crop health, fruit quality and production levels. This is a hands-on role with areas of key objectives including:
Holistic management of a team Build relationship with external IPM consultants Create and implement IPM seasonal programs to meet department and company goals by developing procedures and techniques for solving problems and improving the efficiency of production Collect and analyse data and samples and trial new techniques for effective pest and disease management Manage the Pest and Disease program to ensure levels of pests, disease and beneficials are within the accepted limits and economic thresholds Provide accurate and concise crop health reports Consult with senior management on best practice for pest and disease management and make recommendations for improving efficiency and/or production Develop weekly summary of pest and disease management for Head Grower Liaise with other department employees and study environmental factors affecting the crop health and greenhouse hygiene and develop or enhance new or existing protocols Undertake research into new techniques / bio-pesticides to control pest outbreaks Manage correct application of Agro Chemicals with Boom Spray Equipment, Drenches, Drone Applications, Orchard Sprayers, Misting, ULV, Hot Fogger, Mist Blowers and Hand Sprays to prevent and eradicate pests and diseases Implement relevant research into new techniques / bio-pesticides to control pest outbreaks Maintain all spray applications in accordance with regulations and company policy What you will bring to this role: Demonstrated ability to solve Pest and Disease problems to ensure levels of pests, disease and beneficials are managed to improve the efficiency of production Proven experience in implementing strategies to improve IPM, propagation and growing practices and procedures Hands-on operational IPM experience Current knowledge of pesticide and fertiliser application and regulation Strong communication, consultative, and interpersonal skills Proven leadership experience Sound judgement, safety, and quality orientation Well-developed planning and organisational skills Why Flavorite?
