Job Description: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Heavy Duty Fitter to join our team.
As a Fitter, you will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and servicing of heavy machinery and equipment.
The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.
Frequent travel to remote Australia is required.
Responsibilities: Conducting routine maintenance and inspections of heavy machinery and equipment.
Diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical issues.
Performing repairs and replacements of faulty parts.
Conducting preventative maintenance to ensure optimal performance and longevity of equipment.
Maintaining accurate records of maintenance and repairs.
Adhering to safety standards and procedures at all times.
studying drawings and specifications to determine suitable material, method and sequence of operations, and machine settings fitting fabricated metal parts into products and assembling metal parts and subassemblies to produce machines and equipment setting guides, stops and other controls on machining tools, setting up prescribed cutting and shaping tools and dies in machines and presses, and setting controls for textile machines forming metal stock and castings to fine tolerances using machining tools to press, cut, grind, plane, bore and drill metal cutting, threading, bending and installing hydraulic and pneumatic pipes and lines preparing pattern mechanisms to control the operation of textile machines used to spin, weave, knit, sew and tuft fabric diagnosing faults and performing operational maintenance of machines, and overhauling and repairing mechanical parts and fluid power equipment Qualifications: Proven experience as a Fitter or similar role.
Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and diagrams.
Proficiency in using hand and power tools Excellent attention to detail and precision.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Willingness to work flexible hours and overtime as needed.
Relevant certification or trade qualification is preferred.
