Established Trawling company working in the Australian Fishing Zones, seeks the following full-time fishing industry positions:
Ships MasterShips EngineerMaster FisherShips OfficerDeckhands & Fishing HandsSeafood ProcessorsThis company maintains a drug & alcohol-free workplace; employees may be subject to random drug & alcohol testing. This is a condition of employment. You will be based in the above region but may be required to work in other locations subject to operational requirements.
Required ExperienceWith regard to the following positions:
Ship's MasterShips Engineer (Fishing)Master FisherShip's OfficerSuccessful candidates should ideally have at least 5 years of relevant experience in this particular industry sector for ranked positions. Sea time of less than 5 years may be considered subject to your experience. Where you are required to hold a license or registration, you MUST hold the appropriate tickets or you will not be considered.
Fishing and DeckhandsFishing and Deckhands should have no less than 1 year's Australian work experience, preferably in catching and handling crab, and must be evidenced by sea-time or log book. Verifiable letters of reference may also be acceptable. For all positions, you must provide verifiable references. You need to be strong as these positions involve working on a deck, often in heavy seas and sometimes in cramped spaces. Ranked positions may include managing fishing operations aboard your vessel in consultation with the company owners. You will be away from home for several days or occasionally weeks. Normally, there is usually a short turnaround before returning to sea.
Salary RangesFor successful candidates, a salary or percentage of catch rate as per industry standards will be negotiated according to qualifications, skills, experience, and performance in the same or similar occupation. Annual salary for full-time employees for the relevant occupations will fall in the range of:
Ship's Master: $120,000.00 or greater, subject to negotiationShips Engineer (Fishing): $67,000.00 to $75,000.00Master Fisher: $73,150 to $75,000.00Ship's Officer: $67,000 to $75,000.00Deck and Fishing Hands: $65,835 to in excess of $73,150.00All the above occupations are plus government regulated superannuation guarantee.
Seafood ProcessorsWe are also seeking highly experienced seafood process workers to work in our processing area. Please note that we have both full-time and seasonal vacancies. For the position of Seafood Processor, you should ideally have a minimum of 2 years experience as a seafood processor with verifiable references.
Your duties may include some or all of the following typical tasks:
Assist in unloading of fresh seafood product from vesselsMoving various seafood product to chillers, freezers, and live tanksSorting, dressing, and filleting fish with a proven ability to maintain a high recovery rateSorting, cleaning, and retrieving meat from shellfish and crustaceansLoading seafood products into trucksPacking boned and filleted seafood into cartonsInspecting and grading fish and shellfish for size and qualityPacking fish and counting packs before freezing, and packing frozen fish blocks into cartonsOperating machines which slice, peel, skin, crumb, and package seafood productCleaning and sanitizing equipment and work areasEnsuring compliance with all workplace safety regulationsWages for Seafood ProcessorsThe salary for this full-time position is between $65,835.00 and in excess of $73,150.00 per year plus superannuation guarantee for highly experienced industry workers.
