Location Profile2004 saw the establishment of Carrum Downs Secondary College with its inaugural group of students graduating year 12 in 2009. Situated in a vibrant and rapidly growing community 42km southeast of Melbourne, the College currently has an enrolment of 880 students with 95 teaching and education support staff. RoleAn education support class position at this range will perform tasks that are carried out in accordance with guidelines, accepted practice, and school policy under supervision and direction. This may include coordination of other education support class staff within the work area or educational program.
An education support class position supports the educational services being provided to students but must not include duties of a teacher as defined in clause 2.6.1 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic) or its successor. Certification and/or qualifications of up to three years can be required at this level (noting that Registered Nurse is not included at this level, the first level for which is Level 1 range 3).
ResponsibilitiesFirst aid
- Coordination of First Aid including monitoring of students.
- Completing First aid attendance data, including entering of student sick bay visits into Compass & CASES21, and staff incidents into EduSafe.
- Prepare and maintain student medical action plans, covering all forms of illness, e.g. Asthma, anaphylaxis, diabetes.
- Update and maintain student medications; epipens, Ventolin etc.
- Keep first aid room stocked with necessary medical supplies.
- Maintain qualifications in First aid, including School anaphylaxis assessor, asthma, and diabetes.
- Liaise with wellbeing team and management regarding student wellbeing concerns.
- Co-ordinate first aid, anaphylaxis and asthma training and maintain accurate records.
- Co-ordinate student immunisation program.
General Administration duties and reception backup
- Routine clerical and administrative support.
- Maintain Occupational Health and Safety records using Edusafe.
- Administer Occupational Health and Safety guidelines.
- Liaise and provide information/support to community, students and staff.
- Develop and implement strategies to ensure effective administration procedures.
- Process CSEF forms and State Schools Relief orders.
- Support the organisation and administration of camps, excursions, incursions, and school events.
- Record management.
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality at all times.
- Provide ad-hoc support to other ES staff within the school.
- Other duties as directed by the Business Manager or Principal.
