This may include coordination of other education support class staff within the work area or educational program.An education support class position supports the educational services being provided to students but must not include duties of a teacher as defined in clause 2.6.1 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic) or its successor. Supervision of students can be required individually or in groups up to 4 in controlled circumstances and where the responsibility for students remains clearly with a teacher.Certification and/or qualifications of up to three years can be required at this level (noting that Registered Nurse is not included at this level, the first level for which is Level 1 range 3).ResponsibilitiesFirst Aid & Administration Officer - ES Support Level 1- Range 2Hours of work: 8.30am - 3.30 pm, (Monday to Friday) 5 days a week including 30 minute unpaid lunch break.The First Aid Officer/Administration has the responsibility for all first aid enquiries, administering/performing first aid and first aid administration/records. The role requires close interaction with a range of staff, students and parents.The successful applicant must have First Aid qualifications (minimum level HLTAID011), experience in a similar capacity, strong administration and written communication skills with excellent attention to detail and passion for delivering work to a high standard and strong organisational and time management skills including the ability to manage competing and/or changing priorities.Medical Support:Provide primary First Aid care to sick or injured students and staff.Administer medications as per medical plans and maintain accurate records.Coordinate the development and maintenance of health plans for students with chronic illnesses and disabilities in consultation with medical professionals.Ensure student medical alerts are up to date and communicated effectively to staff.An ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team and to support a holistic partnership with teachers, parents and student wellbeing staff.Administer first aid for specific conditions requiring training and regular updates.Liaise with parents/carers ensuring medication and medical plans are up to date.First Aid Records and Administration:Record all details of first aid attendances and parent communications on Compass Sickbay log.Enter and maintain injury report data in relevant systems.Maintain and update student, staff, and school records in school systems.Maintain an Accident/Incident Register on Edusafe Plus for students and advise on health and safety issues within the College environment.Develop and maintain registers for students with specific health needs.Ensure all records are accurate, confidential, and compliant with relevant policies.Support routine clerical and administrative tasks as needed.First Aid Supplies and Facilities:Organise and maintain first aid supplies for excursions, camps, and school activities.Review and replenish first aid kits in line with OHS requirements.Ensure the first aid room is clean and meets OHS standards.Manage medication and equipment supplies.Arrange the delivery of First Aid, CPR Asthma, Anaphylaxis and Diabetes training to staff.Safety and Procedures:Manage the First Aid area in accordance with Department of Education Policy and Guidelines.Coordinate the implementation of requisitioning, purchasing, and issuing procedures.Ensure compliance with DE First Aid policies and child safe standards.Respond to emergency situations and arrange emergency procedures.Training and Professional Development:Maintain and update staff records for first aid, CPR, and other relevant qualifications, including keep records of staff training and certifications.Participate in specific First Aid training and professional development.Communication and Liaison:Liaise with relevant staff regarding student well-being and medical conditions.Communicate with parents regarding students' ongoing and immediate medical needs.Liaise with the Occupational Health and Safety Officer as needed.Coordinate with external providers of support services.Communicate with local council and other agencies to facilitate immunisation programs.Other Duties:Follow professional obligations, including child safe standards and Mandatory Reporting legislation.Perform any other duties as assigned by the Principal or Assistant Principal.Assist with various administrative tasks as required.Current training in CPR, Anaphylaxis, Asthma, Epilepsy and first aid.Excellent communication skills and experience working in an environment with a wide variety of people in a personable, professional and confidential manner.Demonstrated administration experience with possession of computer and document management skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint.Hold a current Victorian WWCC (Employee).An ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team and to support a holistic partnership with teachers, parents and student wellbeing staff.Preferable experience of using Compass Management System to record and review student records.Who May ApplyIndividuals with the aptitude, experience and/or qualifications to fulfill the specific requirements of the position.Conditions of EmploymentAll staff employed by the Department and schools have access to a broad range of employment conditions and working arrangements.Appointment of successful applicants will be made subject to a satisfactory pre-employment conditions check.A probationary period may apply during the first year of employment and induction and support programs provided.Detailed information on all terms and conditions of employment is available on the Department's Human Resources website at Human Resources.
