ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY The Environmental and Development Services team monitor public health related businesses who provide food and beauty services to the community, along with places of public access such as public swimming pools, making sure they are safe for the Cumberland Council residents.
This team is also responsible for regulating compliance throughout the LGA ensuring that amenity and general safety is achieved, monitoring building compliance and fire safety.
All of these services allow residents and visitors to the area to enjoy and feel safe within our Council area.
The Fire Safety Administration Officer will provide operational business and administration support to the Fire Safety Team including the management and continual improvement of the fire safety database.
This position directly reports to the Development Programs Coordinator and will work closely with the Manager of Environmental Health and Development Programs.
The successful applicant will require: Relevant tertiary qualifications in Business or Fire Safety and/or demonstrated relevant experience.
Demonstrated experience in business support services, preferably within local government.
Excellent customer service skills and a commitment to providing a superior customer service experience.
Demonstrated high level communication skills both written and verbal with a proven ability to establish effective internal and external relationships.
High level numeracy skills along with strong experience of financial administration including issuing invoices.
High level computer skills including but not limited to, word processing, report writing, database and spreadsheet creation and experience with document management software and systems Sound problem-solving skills with the ability to recommend and implement business improvement processes.
Able to work effectively as part of a team or autonomously without immediate supervision.
Good organisational skills including being able to manage own workload and ability to prioritise multiple tasks to meet deadlines.

About this role:   Term contract, full-time position 35 hour week Access to Council's 9 day fortnight Accrued Day Off (ADO) arrangement Located at Council's Merrylands office, with occasional travel required across Council worksites, and may be required to work across any of Council's work locations Salary information: The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.
