The Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) is seeking to establish a pool of qualified Fire Engineering Technicians and Fire Engineers.
This pool will be valid for 12 months, and suitable applicants may be considered for appointment to similar vacancies as they arise.
Please note that being appointed to the pool does not guarantee placement in a position.

About the Role We are looking for applicants who can logically address fire safety challenges within the built environment, think strategically, and exercise sound judgment.
The Fire Engineering Technician and Engineer will provide professional advice, expertise, and engineering guidance on all matters of structural fire safety to support and enhance DFES's operational capabilities.
Fire Engineering Technician ($115,824 to $127,647) The Fire Engineering Technician assesses existing and proposed buildings and other infrastructure projects under the guidance of DFES Fire Engineers.
This role involves applying fire engineering concepts, relevant fire safety codes, and other practices to ensure compliance with adequate fire safety standards.
Successful candidates will have well-developed communication skills and be able to interact confidently with colleagues and clients to deliver effective advice, solutions, and projects.
Fire Engineer ($141,344 to $151,091) The Fire Engineer provides professional advice, expertise, and technical engineering guidance on all matters of structural fire safety to enhance DFES's operational capabilities.
To succeed in this role, candidates must have experience in building fire safety systems, design, performance criteria, and fire engineering concepts and principles to achieve effective fire safety outcomes.
To qualify for the Fire Engineer role, candidates must possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field of engineering accredited by the Washington Accord and recognised by Engineers Australia's Australian Engineering Accreditation Centre.
If the degree is not in fire engineering, candidates must also hold a Graduate Diploma in fire engineering or a Master's degree in fire engineering.
