Our expertise: Cloud and infrastructure Cyber security Software and data integration ServiceNow    For this opportunity, we're looking for a FinOps Specialist with strong background in accounting/finance to work onsite at a large government customer based in Parramatta, NSW.
About the role    This is a an initial 6 months contract as a FinOps Specialist / Analyst with view to extend & ongoing work.
Some of your key responsibilities will be to:  Work with Project Managers to provide financial forecasts, budgets and reports across all public cloud (AWS, Azure) and SaaS services in use.
Monitor, analyse, and report Cloud and SaaS cost usage, demonstrating excellent communication skills to present financial information clearly and concisely to non-financial stakeholders.
Lead the design, documentation, and development of financial requirements and functional specifications using financial models and analysis tools, ensuring alignment with business needs and financial strategies.
Manage relationships with service providers and system owners to ensure cost-effective and efficient service delivery, including licensing agreements and cost structures.
Conduct gap analysis of current and future financial operational processes, and proactively addressing financial challenges with strong problem-solving skills.
Work closely with the engineering, hosting platforms, procurement and finance teams to ensure financial transparency and accountability.
Qualifications 5+ years of experience working in Accounting/Finance or FinOps, FinTech role in medium to large environments.
Experience with AWS, Azure or GCP and cloud cost management systems Strong understanding of financial principles and practices, particularly in the context of Cloud and SaaS technology services - manage budgets, forecast financial performance, and implement financial strategies that optimise expenditures and drive cost efficiency.
Proven ability to analyse complex financial data and provide strategic recommendations - interpret financial reports, identify trends, and offer insights that support business objectives & drive financial performance.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly and concisely to non-financial stakeholders Experience in creating instructional and procedural documentation and delivering presentations Outstanding level of written and oral communications skills, with a confident, personable and professional manner.
Australian citizen or Permanent Resident.
