General Manager - Commercial Fitout - $250k + Super + Car (negotiable) Our Client is a relatively new business with strong financial backing from the Director who has successfully set up and run another sizeable Construction company working across a slightly different discipline of projects.
They harmonise the elements of design, planning, engineering, and construction into designing and constructing unique, one-of-a-kind developments.
The company also delivers Private and Government Commercial fit-out projects across retail, commercial, hospitality, and health, delivering extremely high-end finishes, predominantly working on Commercial Design and Construct projects ranging from $5-$10m. The intention is to build the company from a $5m business to a $20m business in the next 12 months, which looks very achievable with the healthy pipeline of work. They are now looking to bring in an accomplished General Manager to run the company.
We are looking to engage a driven and ambitious General Manager who is on the rise in their career and now looking to fully engage themselves in a long-term managerial role within a successful company that they can also own a stake in.
As General Manager, you will be responsible for driving strategic growth and overseeing general business management functions across our client's fitout and new build projects. This role focuses on client relationship management and business development, team leadership and development, financial performance, KPI management and reporting, whilst ensuring compliance, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement requirements are met.
You will also play a key role in increasing market share, optimising business operations, and positioning the company as a leader in the fit-out industry.

Skills and Attributes required: 10+ years experience in the Commercial Construction industry (preferably fitout) with a minimum of three years' experience in General Management or a similar high-level management role. Tertiary Qualifications in Construction Management and Economics is desirable. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and MS Project. Proficiency in Project Management Software. Strong leadership, diplomatic, and motivational skills, including the ability to lead a small team to deliver exceptional results. Experience in handling contracts, business development, estimating, and project management. Experience working on Commercial fitout and refurbishment projects is highly desirable. MUST HAVE FULL AUSTRALIAN WORKING RIGHTS. Tasks and Responsibilities: Oversee the tender process, estimating, and delivery. Oversee daily operations and make adjustments as necessary. Execute the business growth plan while achieving or exceeding business P & L objectives. Provide on-site leadership for project teams and supervisors by building and motivating team members to meet project goals, adhering to their responsibilities and project milestones. Create a positive and motivating atmosphere in the company and provide better growth opportunities for the employees. Identify and manage core issues and risks. Develop, recommend, and implement business plans, operational requirements, organisational structure, staffing, and budgets that support business strategies. Develop and maintain an effective marketing strategy to promote the business to a range of private and government clients. Establish and negotiate contract terms and conditions and maintain supplier and subcontractor relationships. Identify and develop new business opportunities that either expand on current business or have the potential to generate new revenue streams. We are looking for someone to be instrumental in building this business and someone with a proven background in providing the highest quality construction and fit-out/renovation services to a wide range of both private and government commercial clients. Ideally, we would love you to have experience across fitout projects, consisting of fit-out, shops, retail, cafés, and restaurants, mostly ranging between $5-10m. There will be a small element of new build projects in the near future for those candidates with a background in new build construction, please also feel free to reach out.
