The Finding Solutions position sits within the Youth Early Intervention Homelessness Portfolio. Finding Solutions provides support to young people who are homeless or at risk in both the North West and Inner South regions of metropolitan Melbourne.
Referrals to the Finding Solutions team come via DFFH Child Protection intake. The Finding Solutions team provide case management support to help secondary school aged young people to remain or return to their parents when it's safe to do so. Parents and children are given the opportunity to identify issues and behaviours that are negatively affecting the relationship and work to resolve them.
About youWe are looking for someone who can:
Provide high quality case management support to vulnerable young people and familiesProvide effective early intervention strategies for young people and their families who are known to child protection.Demonstrate experience and confidence in working with parents of adolescents to enhance parenting skills and build their capacity for effective support.Develop and maintain strong working relationships with a wide range of services essential to providing whole of person care to young people in crisisComplete regular reporting, data collection, and record keepingBenefits of working with MCM include:Inclusive Employer by the Diversity Council of AustraliaAttractive Salary Packaging benefitsSupportive learning and development environmentCulture of continuous improvementMinimum Requirements:Bachelor of Youth Work, Social Work, or a related discipline.Demonstrated knowledge of Child Protection and Out-of- Home Care system.Experience in working with young people and families who are at risk of Child Protection interventions/notifications.Sound understanding of the issues facing vulnerable parents which impact on their ability to ensure the safety and wellbeing of their children.An understanding and experience with the youth homelessness sector and/or mainstream services, including knowledge of patterns, trends and systemic issues.Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with other organisations, in formal and informal partnerships, to achieve client outcomes.Demonstrate that Child Safety is a primary part of everyday thinking and practice.Demonstrated well-developed written and verbal communication, interpersonal, conflict resolution, negotiation and mediation skills.Ability to build and maintain positive relationships and communicate with people of diverse backgrounds and abilities.Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.Appointment to this position is subject to the satisfactory completion of a National Police Check, International Police Check (if applicable), current Victorian Working with Children Check, current Victorian Driver's Licence and the right to work in Australia.Screening Criteria:National Police checkWorking with Children checkValid Victorian Drivers licenceRight to Work in AustraliaApplications for this role will close on 27th November 2024 (or Applications may close before the deadline, so please apply early).
