Ganeinu was established over ten years ago with the aim of providing quality childcare for the local community. At Ganeinu our comprehensive educational programs, enriched with Jewish traditions and values, support children aged 2 months to 6 years. Gan Izzy Vacation Care and Hebrew School was created for local Jewish children regardless of their level of Jewish observance, aiming to treats each child and their family with equal respect. Our programs are designed to engage children from years K to year six in learning experiences that build their awareness and pride of their Jewish identity, heritage, culture, customs, Hebrew language, values and a sense of belonging. Our holiday vacation care offers stimulating holiday programs with many incursions and excursions.

Position SummaryThe Financial Officer is responsible for managing and overseeing the organisations financial activities. The Financial Officer will collaborate closely with the Rabbi of Chabad and the Directors of Ganeinu and Gan Izzy to support the development and execution of financial strategies that align with our organisations' goals and mission.
The Financial Officer will oversee budgeting, financial reporting, compliance, audit preparation, and cash flow management, and will be instrumental in ensuring the organisation's long-term financial sustainability.
Key Responsibilities:Financial Policies & Internal Controls: Develop, implement, and monitor internal financial controls to safeguard the organisations' assets.Review and update financial policies and procedures regularly to ensure best practices and compliance.Provide financial oversight for fundraising and grant management, including the preparation of budgets and reports for funding bodies. Financial Management & Reporting: Prepare monthly, annual and ad hoc financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.Develop and maintain financial models and reports to track revenue, expenses, and key financial metrics.Analyse financial performance and provide insights and recommendations to Chabad, Ganeinu and Gan Izzy management.Monitor financial health and sustainability, and ensure that resources are allocated efficiently in alignment with the organisation's strategic goals. Budgeting & Forecasting: Managing the budget process, working closely with the relevant stakeholders to develop a realistic and transparent budget.Monitor and track budgets against previous years to establish patterns and trends.Manage cash flow projections to ensure the organisation has sufficient funds to meet its obligations. Compliance & Regulatory Oversight: Working knowledge of Grants and acquittalsEnsure compliance with relevant regulations, including tax filing requirements for non-profits.Preparation and submission of annual tax filings.Ensure proper documentation, reconciliation and filing systems are in place to meet audit requirements.Management of fixed asset register Audit & Donor Reporting: Coordinate the annual audit process, liaising with external auditors and ensuring the timely and accurate completion of audits.Provide financial statements and reports for donors, grant agencies, and other stakeholders, as required.Assist with grant reporting, ensuring financial management and compliance with donor requirements. General Bookkeeping Accounts Payables/ ReceivablesInvoicingPayroll set up and managementBank reconciliationsPreparation and lodgement of quarterly BAS and monthly IAC Team Collaboration & Capacity Building: Work closely with Chabad and Ganeinu management, and external stakeholders to align financial planning with program goals.Help foster a culture of financial transparency, control, and accountability within the organisation. Qualifications & ExperienceBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field (required).Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or similar financial certification (preferred).Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial management, ideally within the non-profit sector.Experience in Financial Management of Grants highly desirableExperience with non-profit financial reporting.Experience with the financial operations for a registered charity. Skills & Knowledge:Strong knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and regulations, particularly as they relate to non-profit organisations.Proficiency in accounting software Xero and MYOB and Microsoft Suite, including advanced Excel. Experience with Tanda and CRM highly desirableStrong analytical skills and ability to interpret complex financial data and provide clear recommendations.Experience with financial forecasting, budgeting, and strategic financial planning.
