The Organisation
Our client, Lifeline Darling Downs and Southwest Queensland Limited (LDDSWQL) are currently seeking a highly organised and motivated individual to join the team as a Financial Counsellor.
This role sits within the Programs & Community team, and works directly with vulnerable people who are experiencing financial difficulties.
Please note, this position is a fixed-term contract until June 30 2025, with the possibility of extension.
About the Role
This position is a Part Time opportunity, working either a 0.6 or 0.8 FT equivalent. The successful candidate can be based in either the Toowoomba, Warwick or Dalby office.
Due to the client-centered nature of the role, in-office attendance is required.
As a Financial Counsellor, you will provide counselling and advocacy services across the Darling Downs, Lockyer Valley, Goondwindi, Balonne (St George), Maranoa and Warrego regions.
Financial counselling services are aimed at providing information, options, support and advocacy to individuals and families who find themselves in financial difficulties, whether being for general or specialized financial counselling matters (Family Violence, Problem Gambling etc.).
Key Responsibilities
Confidentially and sensitively discuss finances with clients, and work to form a plan of resolution.
Work collaboratively with clients on debt and recovery issues, budget development, superannuation, insurances and handling complex cases including bankruptcy and consumer investigation.
Provide confidential, accurate and efficient data input and records management.
Engage, advocate and refer effectively with target groups and key stakeholders, including creditors and traders.
Deliver groups and workshops across service areas to support Financial Literacy initiatives as required.
To ensure effective case management, intake, referral management and the maintenance of case records.
Comply with the Agency's Quality Assurance requirements.
Mandatory Requirements
A Diploma of Community Services (Financial Counselling) or currently enrolled and working towards completion of a Diploma of Community Services (Financial Counselling).
Current member of relevant State / Territory peak body relating to financial counselling and / or provision of financial services (i.e. Financial Counsellor's Association of Queensland) or demonstrated ability to meet membership criteria.
Positive Blue Card.
Ability to pass a National Police Check.
Relevant experience working in the Human Services and / or Finance sector is desirable.

Salary range $97,719 to $102,146 (Full time equivalent).
