O'Connors is a market leader in the supply of agricultural machinery, parts, service and precision farming equipment with specialist knowledge of Case IH machinery. Operating across 16 dealerships in Victoria, NSW & South Australia, the business has 60 years of heritage and has recently been acquired by Titan Machinery, a NASDAQ listed business ('TITN').
TWH Advisory is proud to be partnering with O'Connors to bring a newly created Financial Controller role to market. With the imminent progression of the Australian CFO to the Vice-President (Australia) role, an opportunity exists for an ambitious agriculturally or automotive minded finance leader to join the business in either the Bendigo or Horsham corporate offices.
The Financial Controller will report to the Global CFO, based in North Dakota, USA. They will be part of the Australian leadership team of 7 people for O'Connors, and will manage a team of 10 finance professionals. The Financial Controller will be a visible presence and business enabler throughout the dealership network. Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
Managing and leading the accounting and support teams providing clear and consistent communication, setting clear performance and behavioural standards, managing performance, delegating responsibility and guiding and developing people. Providing analysis, commercial insights and expert capital management advice to the organisation. Assisting in long-term strategic planning, formulation of financial strategies to support company growth and building capability to better use of financial information to inform decision-making. Oversight of the management of expenditure for the organisation, undertaking financial forecasting and preparing budget projections for the upcoming financial year. The accurate collation, preparation and interpretation of reports, budgets, accounts, commentaries and financial statements in accordance with accounting standards and US reporting framework. Developing financial strategies, including making recommendations for risk minimisation plans. With the support of the Internal audit team, responsibility for the local design and implementation of financial controls, systems and policies, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and industry sector financial and legal requirements. Ensuring timely completion of month end processes and adherence to all statutory requirements and obligations associated with Income Tax, BAS, FBT, PAYG, and GST. Coordinating and delivering annual audit and financial reporting obligations (US reporting and local Statutory Accounts). Management of Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable functions. Treasury management, in partnership with the Global Treasury team. Support Vice-President with board reporting. Support the internal audit function to ensure SOX compliance. The successful candidate will excel in a team environment partnering effectively with colleagues in the USA and Australia, industry stakeholders, customers, vendors and communities which O'Connors services. They will also be highly pro-active, independent, show good judgement and be capable of executing their role with minimal instruction and supervision.
To be successful in securing this role, the Financial Controller will have:
A Commerce/Accounting degree and be CAANZ/CPA qualified. Experience in finance leadership roles including managing a broad range of stakeholders. Commercial and strategic industry experience within motor dealership, agriculture, US multinational or Big 4 accounting firms highly regarded. Expertise in capital management, financial modelling, forecasting, and budgeting. Strong understanding of risk management and internal controls. Knowledge of inventory accounting and retail business systems. The highest standards of professionalism, integrity and ethics pursuant to the responsibilities of the position and being a representative of such a recognisable organisation. Outstanding interpersonal skills, with an ability to develop and build rapport instantly with people. A Victorian driver's licence and the flexibility to travel throughout the dealership network to maintain strong internal stakeholder relationships. A commercial basis for decision making, with an eye to organisational impact and efficiency gains.
