This is an incredible opportunity to apply your skills to an independently owned business, in a fast-paced environment that works closely with the founder and CEO. You will play a crucial hands-on role in managing and optimising our financial operations. This position is key to ensuring the smooth and accurate execution of financial processes, including month-end close, balance sheet management, accounts payable and receivable, cash flow monitoring, tax compliance, and payroll. We are looking for a proactive and technically skilled Finance Manager or experienced financial controller who is committed to continuous improvement, innovation and scalability in financial operations. The Role Month-End Close: Manage the entire month-end close process, including the preparation of financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow). Ensure all financial reporting is accurate, timely, and compliant with accounting standards. Financial Reporting: Produce and manage business monthly reporting, Prep of data, P&L's, trends, analysis by location, YOY, YTD and other measures of comparison to drive business analysis and decision making. Accounts Payable & Receivable: Oversee the AP and AR functions to ensure efficient cash flow management, prompt resolution of issues, and timely payments. Tax Compliance: Ensure compliance with all tax obligations, including GST, FBT, payroll tax, and income tax, across both Australia and New Zealand working closely with our accounting partner. Payroll Management: Oversee the preparation and processing of payroll for our teams in both Australia and New Zealand. Forecasting & Budgeting: Prepare agency forecasts and budgets, providing strategic insights to support business planning and decision-making. Provide Financial insights: Provide insights on trends in PR market and macro AU/NZ markets. Conduct market research to deliver insightful recommendations to CEO and Executive team. Insurance Management & Corporate Compliance: Handle insurance claims and renewals, ensuring adequate coverage and cost-effectiveness. Co Secretarial Duties: Manage trade marks, Company entities and structures, Trusts. Financial Collaboration: Work closely with internal stakeholders to gather financial data and provide insightful management reporting that drives informed business decisions. Internal Controls: Develop and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard financial data and ensure the integrity of financial operations. Team Leadership: Mentor and develop finance team members, fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and professional growth. Ad-Hoc Projects: Lead and contribute to exciting ad-hoc projects that enhance the scalability and efficiency of our financial operations. Innovation & Automation: Lead the Agency with improvement and innovation in Financial processes, practices and systems. IT: Manage the third-party supplier and liaise with Operations team to implement best practice operations in IT hardware and software. About You You will have proven experience in financial accounting with a strong understanding of accounting principles and standards. Financial operational experience in a PR agency or professional services business. Your technical skills will include expertise in financial accounting processes, with a focus on accuracy and compliance. You have strong leadership and mentoring skills, with a track record of developing high-performing teams. Your communication is effective alongside your interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments. Ideally you will have 10+ years experience in a financial role building your career and experience, preferably with a small - medium sized family business. We would love that you have experience in Harvest tracking & forecasting system, Xero payroll, and Google workspace. More about Thrive Culture is everything.
