Position OverviewWe are looking for a Financial Controller to join and take charge of our client's finance and accounting function. This pivotal role involves overseeing all aspects of financial accounting, regulatory reporting, and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records. You will lead a team of finance professionals, provide strategic insight, and partner with senior executives to support decision-making processes. The ideal candidate will bring extensive technical accounting knowledge, experience gained in the banking or wider financial services sector, and a strategic approach to financial leadership.

Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Reporting & Compliance: Direct the preparation and delivery of accurate and timely financial statements, ensuring full compliance with relevant accounting standards (IFRS, AASB) and regulatory requirements.Regulatory & Statutory Reporting: Oversee regulatory filings and statutory reporting processes, maintaining relationships with external auditors and ensuring compliance with evolving regulatory standards.Technical Accounting: Provide subject matter expertise on complex technical accounting issues, assessing implications of new or revised accounting standards on the organization's financial reporting.Internal Controls & Risk Management: Establish and maintain robust internal controls over financial reporting, identifying areas for improvement and mitigating financial risks.Team Leadership & Development: Build and mentor a high-performing accounting and reporting team, fostering a culture of accountability, excellence, and professional development.Stakeholder Collaboration: Act as a strategic partner to executive leadership, providing financial insights and guidance to support key business initiatives, growth strategies, and performance objectives.Process Improvement & Efficiency: Drive continuous improvement initiatives to streamline accounting processes, optimize the finance function, and enhance reporting capabilities.Strategic Financial Planning: Contribute to long-term strategic financial planning and forecasting, working closely with the CFO and senior leadership to achieve financial and business goals.Qualifications and ExperienceProfessional Accreditation: CA or CPA qualification is essential.Experience: 10+ years of experience in accounting and finance, with at least 5 years in a leadership role overseeing financial accounting and reporting functions, ideally within banking, non-bank lending or broader financial services industry.Technical Proficiency: Deep knowledge of IFRS, AASB standards, and regulatory requirements specific to the financial services or lending sector.Leadership Skills: Proven experience in managing and developing high-performing teams, with the ability to inspire and lead a finance function within a complex, dynamic organization.Analytical Skills: Strong analytical capabilities, with a strategic approach to problem-solving and decision-making.Communication & Presentation Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information clearly and persuasively to a diverse group of stakeholders.Stakeholder Management: Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships across all levels of the organization, including senior leadership, external auditors, and regulators.What Our Client OffersLeadership Opportunity: A senior-level position with substantial influence over financial strategy and operations within a leading non-bank lender.Dynamic Culture: Be part of an agile, innovative, and client-centric organization that values entrepreneurship and a proactive mindset.Professional Growth: Opportunities for career advancement in a growing organisation with a strong market presence.Flexible Work Arrangements: A commitment to work-life balance, with flexible work options to support personal and professional well-being.Please click to apply or if you would like to discuss the opportunity further, please contact Iain McLeod at ****** or 0412485110.
