About the role

As the Head of Finance, reporting to the Managing Director of SIMEC Energy Australia (SEA) and working collaboratively with the executive leadership team, you will be responsible for the 'day-to-day' leadership of the entire finance function for SEA, as the energy services provider for the GFG Alliance Australian businesses.A hands-on role, with the assistance of a GFG group transactional shared services team, IT support, group treasury and tax functions with one direct report.
Low volume transactions, but intercompany transactional complexity across the GFG Australia group, requiring strong monitoring, interpersonal and communication skills.This role will offer the successful incumbent to work on average 3 days from the Melbourne head office and 2 days WFH, on a 12-month fixed term maternity cover contract.Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:Driving disciplined and timely accounting and financial reporting processes, aligning with the requirements of the business and its strategic objectives.Budgeting, forecasting, reporting and commentary of results, including proactive optimisation of financial outcomes and business performance.Supporting decision making through the provision of financial analysis and insights.Managing the external audit process, ensuring the business is aligned with relevant accounting and statutory requirements.Assisting the Legal and Company Secretarial teams to ensure compliance with periodic ASIC reporting.Driving the continuous improvement of end-to-end accounting and reporting practices.Training and coaching of team members to support their development.Managing the business's financial systems, including SAP Hana S4.The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, small and collaborative working environment, with a strong sense of integrity and dependability as a true team player.To be successful in this role you will have:Minimum 10 to 15 years' experience working successfully in a senior finance management position, preferably in the Energy industry.Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.Professional accounting qualifications such as CA or CPA.Advanced computer software skills, including Excel, financial modelling and financial reporting software, SAP S/4 Hanna.Broad experience within the Finance and Accounting function, including budgeting, reporting, analysis, compliance and audit support.Demonstrated history of sound decision making based on accurate and timely data analysis.The ability to multitask and work under pressure, with an attention to detail and deadlines.Strong understanding and hands-on experience of performing Finance and Accounting responsibilities within a group corporate environment.Key Benefits
