TWH Advisory is delighted to be partnering with our client who is a successful and innovative independent financial services business, the largest of its kind in Australia. Uniquely positioned to capture increasing market share through organic growth and acquisition, we now seek a Financial Controller to join the business in 2024 to report directly to the Chief Executive Officer.

Having enjoyed nearly two decades of uninterrupted profitability and being the envy of their competitors, the team works from flagship offices in Melbourne's CBD with some WFH flexibility. With another three offices around Australia and interests in New Zealand, plus extensive interactions with European partners, the firm is owned by management in Australia and a sophisticated European investor.

This role is responsible for overseeing the group finance function, encompassing management of Product, Company and Group periodic finances and reporting. This includes providing capability and support to the Chief Executive Officer, the Executive Committee and the heads of business lines on core compliance, budgeting, forecasting, enterprise system implementation and business strategic analysis to support growth initiatives.

Core responsibilities in the role will include: Overall responsibility for the efficient and effective financial control function across the business including continued development of budgeting, financial forecasting, reporting and modelling tools. Oversight of all cash, funding and overall capital requirements of the group. Oversight of all compliance activities including annual audits, tax obligations, regulatory returns and group risk as they relate to Finance. Management of the month-end process, including completion of the general ledger reconciliations and production of product, group and corporate monthly finance reports. Supporting the integration of business acquisitions – to manage the consolidation of finance platforms and then consolidating the management reporting suite. Providing strategic support to the Finance Team to enhance the use and functionality of the accounting and other intelligence / reporting platforms. Providing strategic support to the Executive Team with the development of any strategic project that requires capital investment or is material to the business. Oversee and complete reporting requirements per the Company's agreements and obligations with external partners. Demonstrating an intimate understanding of the group financial position and performance at any point in time. Direct line management for a team of 4 staff in the finance function. Participation in committees, such as Compliance and Information Technology. Interstate travel to support key stakeholders and to assist with corporate development activities. In order to be considered for this career defining role, the successful candidate should display the following: Bachelor or Masters degree in Accounting or related discipline. CA or CPA qualification (or equivalent overseas qualification). Experience at Assistant Manager/Manager level or above in a Big 4 or mid-tier accounting firm and/or industry experience as a Senior Financial Accountant, Finance Manager or Controller. Experience with the planning, design, deployment and testing of new IT systems (preferred). Previous experience within a 'growth' business, preferably within the financial services, insurance or related industries (highly regarded). Exemplary leadership and teamwork skills, at all times driving participation and engagement in order to achieve business goals. Demonstrate a deep understanding of technical accounting matters and accounting principles; employ this understanding when resolving accounting problems. Impeccable attention to detail in the content and format of all workpapers, reporting, communication and transaction processing. A keen eye for detail and desire to probe further into the data - willing to challenge the status quo, does not fear the legacy left behind and is willing to rectify. Demonstrate an analytical mind and sound commercial, business and industry awareness. Ability to recognise the necessary prioritisation of workflow and deliver to deadlines. Ability to work under pressure, multitask and direct others, junior and senior. Report to and maintain a high frequency of engagement with management and external stakeholders. Form and retain trusted relationships with all staff, particularly the group's leadership team, and external stakeholders. Excellent communication skills – is articulate and delivers clear and accurate explanations, demonstrating a deep knowledge of the subject matter. #J-18808-Ljbffr
