Our client, the largest multi-faceted and vertically integrated civil construction group across Australia, is in search for an experienced financial professional to take on the role of Financial Controller for one of its operating divisions in Victoria. Reporting to the General Manager - Infrastructure, the successful incumbent must have collaborative leadership, highly analytical skills, and the ability to influence and provide direction from a financial management perspective.
The office location for this role is on the outskirts of Melbourne CBD.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIESProviding financial advice to the General Manager across strategic and tactical business planning and operational needs.Monthly and annual financial management reporting, cashflow management and forecasting.Manage the budgeting and business planning process.Company's performance dashboard - key financial and operational trends.Ad-hoc analysis including 'deep dives' into the business – transparency and financial relevance.Provide mentorship and training across the project management teams to bring about the disciplines and processes from a cost control, WIP analysis and cost to complete forecasting.Prepare Monthly Project Cost Reports and associated analysis reports.Participate in monthly cost reviews with Project Managers on actual vs planned cost status and cost to complete.Closing contract costs on a monthly basis.Preparation of project working capital and cash-flows.Review project forecasts on a regular basis and resolve any outstanding matters promptly.Prepare and manage the statutory reporting, year-end financials, and audit process.MUST - HAVESBachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent.Prior construction experience is essential, be it from civil construction or commercial building.Ideally a minimum 7+ years' experience in a similar role.Demonstrated experience in implementing accounting processes and procedures to ensure that costs and commitments are captured, enabling accurate monthly forecasts to be undertaken across a portfolio of projects.Proficient at using and training staff on standard construction industry accounting software (e.g. Jobpac, JDE, SAP etc.).Advanced Excel skills.Ability to build rapport at all levels of the project and across the business.This is an excellent opportunity to join a progressive company that has a culture of high performance, market integrity, and growth.
