We are seeking experienced Management Accountants and Finance Officers to provide critical functions to support the day to day and future operations of ASIO.
Financial and Accounting Specialists at ASIO use their administrative and organisational skills, along with their attention to detail to ensure the Finance Branch achieves its deliverables.
They lead, train, mentor and support junior team members within the team.

Role responsibilities
As an AE5/AE6 Management Accountant, you will:
Business Partner to assist with the analysis of client area business results through the budget, forecast, and month end processes.
Lead meetings with client area stakeholders to support their understanding of financial reports and advice, including preparing and delivering any supplementary reports or advice to strengthen their decision-making.
Coordinate and maintain the Organisation's external budget, and prepare external budget documentation including Portfolio Budget Statements and Portfolio Additional Estimates Statements.
Prepare Department of Finance monthly and annual reporting and enter results into Central Budget Management System (CBMS).
Coordinate costings and advice for New Policy Proposals (NPP's) including liaising with external agencies and stakeholders on NPP's.
Supervise, mentor and actively assist junior staff through development of the Finance Business Partners team to build their skills and technical knowledge.
Contribute to the development of relevant operating and accounting policies and procedures.
Foster a collaborative and supportive culture of teamwork within the Branch, Division and across the whole of ASIO.
As an AE5/AE6 Finance Officer, you will:
Process and administer financial transactions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash transactions, corporate credit cards and purchase orders.
Undertake month end processes (including reconciliation of balance sheet accounts) to deliver internal and external reporting.
Assist with end of year financial statements, including preparation of various financial statement notes and supporting work papers for audit.
Process taxation and fulfil reporting requirements including GST, FBT returns.
Provide advice, support and/or training on financial matters, accounting policies and procedures, statutory reporting and taxation matters.
Contribute to the development of relevant operating and accounting policies and procedures.
Participate in the development of new practices and procedures to streamline processes and develop new and innovative ways of working.
Supervise, guide and mentor junior staff within the Finance and Procurement Branch.
What you will bring

A logical mind with strong numerical skills, attention to detail and an aptitude for finance related tasks.
Strong Microsoft Office experience, specifically Excel spreadsheet manipulation for budget management, costing, data analysis and reporting.
The ability to adapt to and use a range of software.
Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
Strong interpersonal and liaison skills and the ability to develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Highly effective and flexible work prioritisation skills, including the ability to maintain a forward work program, meet deadlines and coordinate multiple tasks.
Prior experience (commensurate with level) in a relevant area.
At the AE6 level, experience in managing and coaching staff.
At the AE6 level, an accounting (or equivalent) tertiary qualification, and progress towards Certified Practicing Account (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA) is desirable, but not essential.

Employment is under the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation Act 1979.
Conditions of service are similar to those applying in the Australian Public Service.
We recognise entitlements accrued under the Public Service Act 1999 and provide for continuation of superannuation under the Commonwealth schemes.
