About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced Financial Accounting Lead with significant financial control or external audit experience to join the Coles Financial Control team, focused on Australian Accounting Standards Bureau - Leases (AASB16).
This role will see you managing the end-to-end accounting activities for all things AASB16 as its dedicated key SME for Coles. This role also requires building strong relationships with Finance General Managers (GM), GM Treasury, and Heads of Group Planning and Property in a trusted advisor capacity.
You will also;
Manage delivery of month-end close processes to derive P&L, balance sheet and cash flow impacts of AASB16Manage forecasting, budgeting and corporate planning for AASB16Manage delivery of financial controls governance testing across Financial Accounting & Reporting as required under Financial Controls Governance programLiaise with Group Planning teams to ensure consistency of month-end messaging and analysisSupport the development and implementation of a program tasked with monitoring the effective operation of key financial reporting controls across the groupPromote and lead continuous improvement and streamlining of key financial controls and associated processes within Financial Accounting & ReportingAssist with management of external audit relationship About you and your skills
We are looking for a driven Financial Accounting Lead who comfortably delivers results in digestible communications to stakeholders through data-driven storytelling. Ideally, you have had exposure to AASB16, and can coordinate with others on ad hoc requests pertaining to it.
You will also ideally have;
Significant experience in a Financial Control role or External Audit roleTertiary accounting qualificationCA/CPA with post qualification experienceFinancial experience in a retail/FMCG or big 4 environment desirable, but not essentialStrong Excel, financial modelling, and PowerPoint skillsKnowledge of current accounting standards, particularly AASB16
