With a dedicated workforce of professional service providers, we are committed to ensuring the City of Nedlands is a vibrant, safe, and inclusive community with a high standard of local services and facilities.About the roleWe are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Financial Accountant to join our dynamic Financial Services team.Reporting to the Coordinator Accounting Services, you will play a vital role in ensuring compliance with statutory financial management requirements, accounting standards, and Council policies. This position also offers the opportunity to lead key financial processes, provide strategic insights, and contribute to the continuous improvement of financial systems.Key responsibilities:Prepare accurate financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow forecasts.Manage tax compliance across GST, Fuel Tax Credits, Fringe Benefits Tax, and other areas.Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, fixed asset register, and associated ledgers in compliance with accounting standards.Lead month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations.Collaborate on budget preparation, financial planning, and policy documentation to enhance internal controls.About the successful candidateThe ideal candidate will be a motivated finance professional with a strong understanding of statutory compliance, financial reporting, and budgeting.
