Our client is a global leader in providing software solutions. They are seeking a Financial Accountant to join the Sydney team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in managing financial operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards, and providing valuable insights to support strategic decision-making.
The Role
As the Financial Accountant, you will be reporting to the Finance Director and responsible for the following:
Perform regular bank reconciliations.Accurately allocate bank receipts to corresponding customer accounts.Reconcile and match credit notes with related invoices.Fixed Assets Management:Manage and maintain the Fixed Assets register.Payroll Accounting:Calculate the first pay of new joiners and the final pay of leavers.Coordinate with the Sage payroll outsourcing team to ensure monthly payroll runs are completed on time.Book payroll costing general ledger journals accurately.Payment Processing:Organize HSBCNet payments for external and intercompany vendors, payroll, and staff expense claims.Expense Claims Management:Validate and review staff expense claims in the CONCUR portal.Tax Compliance:Book monthly FBT (Fringe Benefits Tax) provisions based on the working paper.Provide relevant information to the tax agent for yearly FBT returns.Prepare income tax return provisions quarterly and provide relevant working papers and information to the tax agent for yearly income tax returns.Prepare and submit monthly payroll tax and conduct year-end reconciliations.Maintain workers' compensation information in coordination with the insurance broker.Monthly Closing and Reporting:Prepare reports for management system monthly closing and intercompany billing.Issue intercompany invoices for travel expenses and other various costs.Accrue intercompany recharges received from headquarters and other regional entities.Accounts Payable:Book and manage the AP invoices process, ensuring all necessary approvals are obtained and timely payments.Reconciliation and Closing Tasks:Perform month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities.Reconcile intercompany balances and match them using the intercompany portal.Provide the manager with a full balance sheet reconciliation schedule for review and post adjustment journals as necessary.Complete the group reporting package on a quarterly basis.Provide periodic actual cash reports to relevant stakeholders.Handle any ad hoc tasks and duties assigned by the manager.Qualifications and Skills: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.Minimum 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably within a multinational or regional organization.CA/CPA QualifiedProficiency in accounting systems such as WorkDay and SAP.Knowledge of expense management platform such as CONCUR.Strong understanding of Australian tax regulations, including BAS, FBT, income tax, and payroll tax.Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and formulas.Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.Strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders.Experience in intercompany billing and reconciliation processes is highly desirable.Proactive, with the ability to work independently and take ownership of tasks.Adaptable and capable of handling both routine and ad hoc responsibilities.A team player with a collaborative mindset.How to apply:
