About the role Next Gen's finance team is centrally located in Adelaide and we're seeking the services of an experienced and detail focused Financial Accountant.
Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Financial Accountant will be responsible for supporting Next Gen's finance functions through the timely and accurate processing of financial transactions, assistance with periodical reconciliations, ensuring accuracy in financial records and providing crucial support for financial reporting and compliance.
What you'll be doing Your key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
In the short term: Provide assistance with end-to-end accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including data entry; Support the automation of invoice processing to free up capacity in the AP function;Preparation of bank, balance sheet and other reconciliations;Assistance with periodical revenue and expense calculations including the preparation of adjustment schedules for items such as accrued and prepaid expenses and revenue received in advance;Assistance with the preparation of management and statutory accounts;Assistance with audit processes by ensuring compliance with company accounting policies and internal controls and timely preparation of financial & other documentation;Supporting the budgeting and forecasting process by supplying analysis, assumptions and phasing, particularly with respect to revenue and expenses;Supporting the payroll functions by providing backup when required and assisting with periodical procedures including statutory payments;Assisting with systems and process improvement/modernisation; andAdministrative and general support duties as required.What skills and qualities do you need to have? To be successful in the role you will:
Hold tertiary qualifications in accounting;Have a minimum two (2) years' experience in a similar position (within a consumer services business advantageous);Have proficient knowledge of accounting principles and practices including crucial support functions such as AR, AP and payroll;Have a sound understanding of Goods & Services Tax (GST) principles;Be an advanced user of Microsoft Excel;Be a proficient user of other Microsoft Office suite applications including Outlook and Word;Be a proficient user of finance software applications (MYOB Exo for business advantageous);Show initiative with a 'can do' and 'hands-on' approach;Derive satisfaction from the quality and timeliness of your work completed;Have excellent communication & interpersonal skills and derive satisfaction from maintaining positive and cohesive working relationships;Have a commitment to continuous improvement with a willingness to respectfully challenge the status quo.If this sounds like you, then apply today.
