CQ Rescue based in Mackay has been providing essential life-saving aeromedical, disaster relief, and search and rescue helicopter services to the Central and North Queensland community for over 28 years. As one of the busiest rescue helicopters in Queensland, our community-funded service plays a pivotal role in providing peace of mind to people living, working, and visiting this region.CQ Rescue is committed to excellence in financial management and is looking for a dedicated Financial Accountant to join our team. This role is crucial in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial operations.Key Responsibilities:Maintain the financial records system to allow accurate and timely reporting.Assist the Finance Manager in the preparation of financial information and requests from management.Complete reconciliations, journals, and accruals in a timely manner.Maintain and monitor the asset register and report on asset depreciation.Prepare financial information for the annual audit in conjunction with the Finance Manager, liaising with auditors.Maintain accurate accounts payable and receivable records, ensuring all bills are paid on time in accordance with the vendors' payment terms.Monitor and collect debts in line with organisational policies.Communicate effectively with customers and vendors, including receipting transactions.Calculate, process, and pay fortnightly payroll including benefits, reporting, and taxes in accordance with relevant Awards and Standards for approval by the Finance Manager.Prepare and remit monthly superannuation contributions.Prepare and submit payments and reports to the Australian Taxation Office and other regulatory bodies in accordance with State and Federal tax regulations such as BAS, GST, and FBT.Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.Proven experience in monthly end accounting and accounts payable and receivable management.Proficient in accounting software (Netsuite preferred) and MS Excel.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Strong attention to detail and organisational abilities.Analytical mindset with problem-solving skills.
