Simon & Schuster, Inc

Details of the offer

Reporting to the Head of Commercial Finance, the Financial Accountant is an integral part of the Simon & Schuster Australia Finance team, central to our monthly financial reporting, smooth running of AP and AR processes, accurate processing of eBook and eAudio revenues and responsible for ongoing balance sheet reconciliations. You will also be involved in a variety of finance projects aimed at improving our efficiency and the quality of service provided to the broader business. Your Role:

Ensure completeness and accuracy of financial records for all areas of the P&L and balance sheet as well as timely submission of group reporting deliverables. Act as the key contact for the immediate Finance team for all accounting areas including payroll tax. Support the wider business concerning Accounts Payable/Receivables and employee expenses. Collaborate with the editorial team on budgeting, forecasting, and tracking operating expenses. Coordinate with colleagues at S&S Inc., S&S India, and S&S UK concerning financial reporting and intercompany transactions. Assist the Head of Commercial Finance with design and implementation of improvements to processes and controls. Create royalty contracts for ANZ Original and Rights titles, produce royalty statements, manage authors/agents queries, and manage rights deals. Work with staff from across the business to improve process compliance, share best practices, and explain complex financial matters to non-finance staff.

This is an ideal role for someone looking to gain managerial experience. While the role does not initially have line manager responsibilities, you would be helping to oversee and support junior members of the finance team. Your Profile:

CPA/CA qualified or working towards qualification, either looking for a first role outside of audit practice or already working within a Finance team in industry. Media experience – whether in industry or audit capacity – is highly desirable. Exceptional organisational and communication skills. Solid knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite and experience working with accountancy software. Proactive team player, self-motivated, and able to work autonomously with strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills. Good analytical skills and the ability to use judgment. Inquisitive mind and willingness to question existing processes and suggest potential improvements.

We are an equal opportunity employer offering flexible working arrangements, competitive salaries, and a large suite of benefits including paid parental leave, financial planning and superannuation advice, income protection and life insurance, and a range of wellbeing programs. We offer a non-corporate, inclusive, friendly, and collaborative environment where all voices are heard. We believe storytelling has the power to change Australian culture and value diversity and inclusion, both in the books that we publish and the people we hire to help us make this happen. We encourage candidates from all different backgrounds to apply. #J-18808-Ljbffr
