In your full time permanent Financial Accountant role, reporting to a Senior Financial Accountant, you will be accountable for supporting financial reporting to stakeholders including external regulators, internal business unit management and external audit relationships through strong balance sheet management, financial control and governance activities across the MMS businesses.
You will perform month end accounting, including journal processing and preparation of balance sheet reconciliations, including documentation of the accounting judgements applied to the treatment of various business transactions and resulting accounting impacts. You will also contribute to improvements in financial control and reporting frameworks and processes to support the efficient preparation of financial statements for the MMS Group and its subsidiaries.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensuring MMS meets all its financial and taxation regulatory compliance requirements for its Group and Subsidiary entities on a timely basis, including GST, FBT, Company tax, ABS, Payment Times Reporting
Completion of month end close accounting procedures
Completion of monthly Balance Sheet reconciliations, including investigation of reconciling items
Involvement or assistance with ad hoc finance or business projects as required
Assistance with external and internal audit processes as required
Continual development and enhancement of the reporting systems and processes for efficient financial control and governance processes
Qualifications:
Commitment and proven ability to provide a high level of customer service
Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact with business managers and other senior leaders
Strong attention to detail, and reviews work to ensure completeness and accuracy of analysis, outputs and information provided to stakeholders
Strong analytical and reporting skills, proficient in Excel and Word.
Relevant accounting qualification from a membership of a professional Accounting body (CA ANZ, CPA)
At least 4 years of Financial Reporting and Accounting experience in a corporate or professional services environment
Knowledge of IFRS relevant to the MMS business
Knowledge of financial reporting and operational processes and accounting systems/applications
Experience with general ledger applications including JD Edwards (desired but not essential)
