About the Position
Council is currently seeking an experienced Financial Accountant who will be responsible for the provision of specialised financial services including the preparation, monitoring, analysis and reporting of Council's financial position in accordance with the Australian Accounting Standards and Local Government Legislation.
The role will act as 2IC to our Finance Manager and be an important part of the Finance Team, you'll mentor our Finance Officers and build financial literacy throughout the organisation through creation of fit for purpose financial reports. You'll be responsible for preparing and maintaining our long-term financial plan including income, cash flows, and capital works program, you'll also be responsible for ensuring compliance with the financial reporting requirements of Council's grants and funding agreements.

This role offers opportunities to make changes to current systems and processes, so we are looking for a qualified accountant who looks for ways to make improvements in accuracy and efficiency. You'll also be a great communicator who can explain reports and budgets to people who don't have the same level of financial acumen. You'll be a team player who can provide assistance to the Finance Team and have the ability to work with staff across all areas of Council.
