TasRecycle is a not-for-profit entity that has been appointed as Scheme Coordinator of "Recycle Rewards" to administer the Tasmanian Container Refund Scheme (CRS), as announced by the Tasmanian Government.
TasRecycle is supported by its members, comprising Lion, Coca-Cola Europacific Partners, and Asahi Beverages, who each have significant experience in managing container deposit schemes across Australia and are proud to be involved in Recycle Rewards to help create a circular economy for beverage containers and importantly reduce litter.Our PurposeTasRecycle is an exciting new business, tasked with the oversight and administration of Tasmania's Container Refund Scheme ("Recycle Rewards").
At TasRecycle we are motivated to help keep beverage containers out of landfill, creating clean streams of recycled materials that help to build our Circular Economy by promoting product stewardship of all Beverage Suppliers in Tasmania.As the appointed Scheme Coordinator for Recycle Rewards, we work with the Tasmanian Government and partners to oversee the building of a large-scale container recycling network which will play a key role in transforming Tasmania's waste and recycling system.
Through a 10c refund for every eligible container returned we will encourage Tasmanians to collect and recycle their beverage containers, making a positive difference to our people, environment, and local industry.Our PeopleAt TasRecycle, our people have come together with a common purpose, to build a successful CRS that is projected to reduce beverage container litter by up to half.

We have a clear vision and are building a team of action orientated specialists who share a common passion to make a real environmental impact, and who have the skills and experience to build a world-class CRS for Tasmania.Job Overview:The Financial Accountant is responsible for managing and overseeing the financial operations of the company including providing accounting, forecasting, monitoring, financial analysis and reporting for TasRecycle.Key ResponsibilitiesAnalysis and Reporting:Collaborate with the Shared Service provider to prepare and maintain financial statements, reports, budgets and end of month accounts for TasRecycle operational entity.Conduct financial analysis of the actual results compared to the budget and maintain forecast projections (and by department) to ensure understanding and possible correction of the cause of the variances.Prepare the entity slides for the board pack.Prepare the forecasts and projections of entity financial position.Prepare the budget for the entity financials, ensuring accuracy and alignment with the organisation's strategy and goals.Review and approve the monthly reconciliation of the balance sheet for the entity.Provide financial analysis to understand business performance and trends and support to management with the data informed decision making.Prepare end of month accruals and prepayments including loan interest accruals.Ensure quarterly payment of the loan interest is made.Business Partnering:Act as a key business partner for all functions.Provide financial monitoring, compliance, reporting and support for TasRecycle.Prepare end of month analysis for TasRecycle operational entity.Assist in the preparation of board pack.Prepare the budget for TasRecycle operational entity, ensuring accuracy and alignment with the organisation's strategy and goals.Managing and maintaining internal and external stakeholders, like Executive Leadership team, Board, Finance and Commercial Team, Network operators, Exporters, etc.Compliance:Ensure adherence with internal financial policies and processes.Support external audit and the preparation of statutory accounts.Provide support to the internal scheme audit.Review monthly and annual taxation submissions.Manage the relationship and service level agreement with the outsourced payroll provider.Prepare the insurance renewals for the entity, ensuring appropriate analysis of the insurance requirements to ensure the mitigation of risk to the entity.Prepare the annual charity information statement.Process improvement:Identify and support implementation of process improvement initiatives to streamline processes and improve data accuracy.Foster a culture of process improvement and efficiencies.The key deliverables of the role:Develop and deliver period end entity reporting within required timeframes.Meet all deadlines for BAS, FBT, and payroll tax.Implement internal financial policies and processes.Support both the internal and external audit functions.About you:Minimum of 5 years of experience across accounting and financial analyst roles post Qualification.Exceptional attention to detail and a keen eye for process improvements.Open and direct collaborative working style with the ability to engage and communicate with cross functional internal and external stakeholders.Results driven, proactive, self-motivated and has the drive to take responsibility for deliverables.Hands-on person willing to get involved in all aspects of the business.Qualifications and educational requirementsPreferred skillsMembership of a relevant professional body (CPA, CA).Commercial acumen.Strong communication and collaboration skills.Work health and safetyAs an employee of TasRecycle you have a duty to take reasonable care for your own health and safety and must take reasonable care that your acts or omissions do not adversely affect the health and safety of other persons.Seniority level: AssociateEmployment type: Full-timeJob function: Accounting/Auditing, Finance, and OtherIndustries: Environmental Services, Community Services, and Environmental Quality Programs
