About the roleMercy Community Services has an opportunity for an experienced Financial Accountant to join our Corporate Team based in Nudgee. This is a Permanent Full-Time position.This position is responsible for the end of month process, ownership of Balance Sheet accounts, assisting the Finance Manager in the delivery of financial reporting, financial prudential compliance, assisting with GST/FBT, ensuring data integrity in the general ledger, assistance with process improvements, and guidance to the Finance Transactional Team as required.Salary: Commensurate with experience plus super plus NFP salary packaging availableWhat you'll be doingKey responsibilities include:Assist with the preparation of year-end statutory financial statements, ensuring compliance with Australian Accounting Standards. Liaising with external auditors to resolve audit queries in a timely manner.Prepare and review monthly accounting journals, involving complex data manipulation from source documents.Review and maintain the Fixed Assets Register.Prepare and review accruals, prepayments and monthly payroll related accruals.Complete and own all balance sheet reconciliations across the group.Assist the Finance Manager with all accounting reporting requirements.Assist with GST and FBT calculations, lodgement and reporting.Monitor and maintain compliance with internal controls.Assess effectiveness of internal controls and identify improvements.Monitor prudential compliance.Mentor and lead finance officers as required, ensuring that correct procedures are being followed and deadlines are met.Other ad hoc tasks.About youTertiary degree in Accounting or Business or Commerce.CA/CPA qualifications.Proven experience in a Financial Accountant or Senior Financial Accountant role.Experience using a mid-tier ERP essential (TechOne is highly advantageous).Experience using Epicor (highly advantageous).Strong organisation and time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.Ability to obtain positive notice in the Working with Children Check (Blue Card), NDIS Screening Card and any other legislatively required personal history screening as required.Why Mercy CommunityMercy Community is a Catholic not-for-profit that provides a wide range of services supporting families and young people, people living with a disability, and the elderly.
